Default Who's running 275/40/17?

Want to switch to a 26 tire from my current 28 305/45/17 mt et street r. They are great and dead hook with good prep.

I know guys running a 26 with 315/35/17 that cut a 1.5 60 and dropped .2 in the 1/4 over my same 28. My rims are only 9.5 and I have 120 mile round trip to the track and don't want to run a 315 as The 9.5 is a bit narrow

Will a 275/40/17 mt et street r dead hook with my setup? Car makes 450-500 rwhp. The 6g has an aggressive 1st gear with a 4.56 ratio iirc. It hits pretty hard off the line worried the 275 won't hold

Looking for another tenth on the stock converter and that ten second slip. Will a 275 work ?

Thanks

I am running 275/40/17 et streets. I have been a 1.42 60 so far with a yank pt4000 and 3.73 gear.
I think you can hook on them with good track prep.

Cool thanks for the input

I'm just worried that it's not quite apples to apples since I'm in a heavier car with IRS and stock suspension...

Ran mine down to a 1.50 hooking every pass on a et radial. Then went to a 28 slick.

Definitely not apple to apples but I probably hit the tires harder than you do . My converter flashes 5800 plus and my car is 3500lbs .
