Looking for tire suggestions
Looking for tire suggestions I recently acquired a 00 t/a and I'm looking for opinions on the best tire that will fit for the track. Car makes 400-430 whp with a 4000 converter. Stock front suspension with all aftermarket rear suspension. I want to stay with a radial as I do street drive the car occasionally.
Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S ... You can fit a 295/55/15 without any modification except removal of bump stops. I believe they make a 295/40/17 in the same tire also. I had two seasons on mine still had a bit of tread above the wear bar with a ton of life left in them for racing, hooked VERY well at the track, spun a bit on the street but still pretty sufficient. Same power level for me on motor as you, same exact suspension and I had a 3500 converter...even launching on spray I nearly dead hooked at track. And in my opinion they looked great on the car.

That being said, I again HIGHLY recommend the 295 ET Street SS as stated in my earlier post. Price point, performance, life, and ride quality...you will be pleased! Good luck with whatever you choose.

I just switched to 275 pros from the old SS style Mickey Thompson and my car doesn't spin at all with those on. I love them. There is a DOT number on them, however it has been debated on whether they are street legal or not. Some say that since there is a DOT number, that it is street legal, others say they are not. I'm not sure on what the right answer is. I just know they are working extremely well on my car, and many others in my area are using them.

Its not the cops you have to worry about,,
its the ambulance chasing lawyer when something goes TU..
Riding with a friend of mine on a 4 lane had another car pull out in front of him and we t-boned it dead on. We had the right of way ,, but the driver of the other car noticed the Drag Specials on the back.. He immediately needs an ambulance and my friends insurance settled for $100K....
If your tire says "Not recommended for highway use" on the sidewall, in court you a possum on the legal highway... His ties were DOT approved, but 2 grooves doesn't look good in pictures..
