Default Help pushing my stock bottom end ls1 into the nines

@chas010

I need four tenths, which is a lot at this level, but I would like to get into the high nines with my mild heads and cam stock bottom end ls1 camaro.

Car has unported PRC 200 heads with a New Era street sweeper cam spinning to 6800, TSP 1 7/8 lts with a slp cat back.

Intake tract is a Fast 92 stock maf, 92mm throttle body, and 36lb gm injectors.

Trans is an origional 4l60 with a shift kit and 4000 Yank converter.

rear is a moser narrowed 12 bolt with 4.11s spool and 28"mt drag slicks.

Lightweight stuff, car has strange front brakes and a bmr kmember and wolfe anti roll bar(thanks madman!)

I found very little info on these, advertised as "ls6 replacement" heads. I don't think they were available for very long.

It was pulled from a low mileage 2000 fbody. No modifications to the bottom end other than an Improved racing baffle in the oil pan.

Improved Racing's crankshaft scraper and windage tray will add 5-10 WHP, in addition to reducing oil starvation.

Haha no. Just restarting an old thread, and looking for advice to get that car into the elusive 9 second club.

So you're running about 10.4 in a mild HCI only LS1?

I would suggest focusing on the intake tract and the exhaust. I don’t think you will see much et gain with heads/Cam intake swap unless you swapped them all for a real nice matched setup which would be around $4-5000. Even then I wouldn’t expect your money’s worth on the timeslip.

Back to the intake side I would ditch the mass air and go with a real free flowing rain air setup. I would also add a cutout in the exhaust side or get rid of the Catback. Try to find some more weight to get rid of. You already have a hard to beat converter and the right gear. You could also try a radial you will likely go faster with one.

What you are trying to do run 9.99 is going to take ( 67 R.W.H. ) over running a 10.40. You might want to get a 100 shot of NOS.

Your car already sounds like it runs really well for the mods. I think its gonna be tough to do on motor, but can be done.

It ran a best of 10.49 at 129 the end of last season, sort of a 10.4...

That is exactly what I was curious about, the cost per hp factor that some superior aftermarket heads might offer. Would porting these older heads see appreciable gains?

Would really like to get there N/A if possible. 70 hp does not seem feasible though, it's going to need to lose weight in addition to whatever power I can gain.

Great running car!!! What is the weight? I would attack the intake for sure(MAf,Intake manifold and throttle body. Won't give you 4 tenths but lets see the weight..

Ok you need 5 tenths lol What is your 60ft? Your gonna need a low 1.3x’s 60ft to go 9’s. I’d call Texas speed and ask them more about the heads also. Opening the exhaust and intake could knock off a couple tenths. Losing approx 150lbs will get you another tenth. Could swap to e85 (need bigger injectors and maybe pump) or ms109 but it’s pricey. That could be worth another half to full tenth.

Are we against nitrous? If not that's the most cost efficient way.
