11.5" tires on a 8" rim?

11.5" tires on a 8" rim? I read of guys using 26/11.50/15 hoosier qtp's on a 15x8 prostar rim with no problems at all. Anyone run this setup and have any probs? I know that some have probs with a 10.5" MT tire on an 8" rim, so how can a 11.5" tire fit on? Is there that much of a diff in width between manufacturers?

Re: 11.5" tires on a 8" rim? I have MT 26-11.50x16's on the stock 16x8 rim's with no problem's, they fit great, lots of people use this set up at the track.

Re: 11.5" tires on a 8" rim? its the difference in type of tire....they measure the tread width differently with ET Streets/QTPS and MT Drags/Hoosier Drags
for instance:
MT ET Street 26x11.5x15 = 9.7" tread width
MT ET Drag 26x10x15 = 9.6" tread width
for instance:
MT ET Street 26x11.5x15 = 9.7" tread width
MT ET Drag 26x10x15 = 9.6" tread width
