Default What rim size to get

Can someone point me in the correct direction on what size to get. Car currently has 275/40/17 street tires and I am purchasing a new rear end at stock width (no tubing being done)

Not sure what size to get for the rear:

17 x 10.5
rims (7.48 bs)
or
15 x 10 (7.25 bs)

Fronts will either be17 x 4.5 or 17 x 7 (not sure which ones are best route either)

These will be rim/tires that will be used at the strip and occasional street use. I have no experience buying drag radials/slicks. Car is a procharged with soon to be built 9" rear. Car is also lowered so please keep that in mind with giving recommendations. Also will these fit with offsets that racestar sells?

Thanks in advance.

Big difference between a 15 and 17 inch wheel. Not to mention the the sidewall difference in tires

I understand the sidewall part. Would the 17 be disappointment. I'm not so thrilled with the jacked up look of 15.

Well the overall height of the tire will determine the look. With that said if it's mainly a street car with occasional track use I'd do a 17 with a drag radial. If your main focus is 1/4 mile then a 15 for sure

15s look better and hook better. Win win in my opinion.

You said For the strip and occasional street use----get a 15" rear wheel so you can get a good tire. For a supercharged car, you need a better tire and more sidewall. 15" tires don't have to have the jacked look. Get a tire that fits. You really should consider shortening the rear axle an inch on each side to make room for the sidewall on a drag tire. Hopefully somebody that has done this on your type vehicle will chime in on the width. If you have your rear end out of the car, get your wheels/tires, set them under the car and measure between the wheel mounting surface to see what you really need. It's kind of a big deal to get it wrong. Make sure the 15" wheels will clear whatever brakes you are going to use.

So I think that these sizes will work and not set any lights?

Rears: 295/55/R15 (Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S)
Fronts: 225/60/R17 (Not sure which brand etc as these are on a 17 x 7 rim)

The car is only going to see the track maybe 3-6 times a year. It is not going to be dedicated track car as I do "cruise" with it. Rims are going to be Race Star Recluses in black chrome with standard backspace
