High elevation ET's
 

For the people here that have run their cars at higher elevations. What sort of times are you running, at what elevation, and what are your mods? Here in Albuquerque n/a cars run about 1sec slower and f/i about .5sec. I would just like to see some times for comparison sake.

Do a search or go back about two - three weeks same question asked. Yes the altitude hurts.

My car ran 13.8 @ 103 on street tires. Bone stock 01' WS6 m6. 4500' elevation, about 85 degrees. Don't know what DA ended up being.

I ran 14.2@100 in Albuquerque early last summer in stock form.

13.6@104 with some light mods early this summer. (~8000ft DA)

Ran my friends Z with bolt ons and a verter, 13.3@106 2.0 60'. He was able to hit 13.07@???.?? with 1.8X 60'

My Trans Am went 13.7@109.8mph in Albuquerque, back in February. Car only put down 345/351 in Texas...so, that's what??? 280rwhp in ABQ? That just doesn't add up, does it? :shrug:

Well since we are posting here.

12.4 at 116 mph at Arroyo Secco (4000 ft) with around 50 deg air no humidity. This was on nitto drag radials and a 2.1 60ft back in January with about 40% until third gear.

Last month in the 90+ air temperatures and 8500 ft DA and a set 26"x11x15 quicktime pros and a 1.9 60ft ran a 12.5 at 111 mph, launching at 3000 rpm.

Mods are 3000 stall converter and a Incon turbo kit at 9 psi on 91 octane and very low timing (15 deg at max torque). Hals all the way around. PA K-member and a-arms, relocation brackets, lower control arms, panhard bar.

Race weight 3900 lb. I have yet to run some 100 octane unleaded and actual timing. Still dialing in the suspension setup.

Stock the car ran 14.2 at 98 mph

My car ran 13.30 at desert demonz in El Paso. This elevation sucks, El Paso I believe is 3700 ft plus the height at the strip I would say 4000 ft plus. My mods are 3500 ssf w/shift kit, 4.10 gears, slicks hoosiers D05 26x9x15. diablo programmer, lid k&n, Free ram air, short egr tube, TB bypass, gutted cats and cut out. I still need headers, pulleys, TB, intake, u name it I still need it.

Hey I know this is off topic, please excuse but I'm thinking of moving out to Albuquerque/Santa Fe. I'm from Boston area and run low 12's and go to the track almost every week up here. From the posts above there are two tracks in the area? Arroyo secco and Desert Demonz. Both 1/4 tracks thats good. I thought the one in El paso would be at a lower elevation. Are there any others? From what I gather the high elevation will cost a second on a pass, I guess. Thanks for your help.

There's the Albuquerque Dragway too. At the Arroyo and Desert tracks you won't lose quite as much as in Albuquerque. It's about a second loss in Abq., a little less at the other two tracks. You'll run low 13's in Abq. I've seen stock Z06s run from about 13.7 to about 13.3 just for a bit of comparison.

And I don't know if you've ever been to New Mexico, but things here are pretty spread out and the El Paso and Las Cruces strips are about 3 hour drives from Abq. and almost 4 from Santa Fe. Where exactly were you planning on moving to?

Hey, thanks for information. If we move it'll be santa fe. At least there are tracks out there. I told her I would have a hard time moving to a place without a track. A 3-4 hour ride isnt bad but you would probably have to leave the day before if you want to run a cool car. That will take some planning. At least everyone else is running a second slower so it keeps things even. Any thoughts on how a supercharger is affected in the thin air. It's a planned mod. Thanks much

11.79 in el paso, all motor.

Stock ZO6 ran a 13.3 at 107.5 MPH with a 2.2 60ft time at 5000ft at PMI
most ZO6 run around 13.3-13.6
SC ZO6 ran a 12.0 at 117.5MPH with a 1.9 60 fot time at 5000 ft at PMI

(PMI pueblo motorsports) both runs were during the day time at about 88-92 degrees.

Anybody know a correction factor or calculator for sealevel or near sealevel times.

There are a couple of tracks out there. I belive Santa Fe its about 30min-40min drive to the Albuquerque strip. Albuquerque track elevation is 5350 ft with DA's ranging from high 6000's to low 9000's in the summer. The track is open pretty much all year long, except for 2-3months in the winter. Gotta love the southwest :). The track hooks pretty decently, not the best but not the worst. Your going to lose about 60-80 coming here, but everybody is in the same boat so its all relative.

Thunder Alley, El Paso TX ~260mi. 3-3.5 hr drive from Burque

Desert Demonz, El Paso TX , this a more of a street racing venue. In fact thats what it started as, a legal place to street race. It now has become almost like a real track. Some of the faster guys claim they hook better there than at TA, these are folks that are running low 10's.

Roswell NM , about 3-4 hr drive from Burque and is probably the best hooking track in the area and at a lower elevation ~3500ft with DA's in the 3000-6000 range. Usually some of the guys from Burque, El Paso and Las Cruces go out there one day out of the year to run because it hooks so great.

Needless to say there are quite a few choices :gruffy: .

12.6 @ 117 at about 5400'. Not bad for 484 rwhp corvette. I was thinking it would go high 11s.

My best time in Albuquerque is 12.03@116mph. This is a all motor 396LT1. I changed the combo since then. I'm hoping next time out will result in low 11's with 120 trap speeds or better.

You definitly have the trap speeds for it :D

nope i sold them. the only thing i have off the TA is the NX switch panel, intested? btw what color is your car and where do you hang out? have we ever met?
