Your times should be a little better than that. Is it hot/humid there right now? I figured it'd be cool by now. Anyway. The car should be jumping off the line, it's an A4. I never even go into 3rd untill after the time box and some times I never go into 3rd. Were you heating up your tires at all? What tires are they? Were you driving in or around the wet box? How did the track 'feel'? What were other f-bodies running with your mods?

From my experience, my car launches off the line great. I do a 'two-step' launch. I always drive around the wet box and do a little clean off, not a full burn out. Where I find I have trouble with our gears is down the track when the car moves into 2nd gear. It's like the car almost levesl out. IT SUCKS! A torque converter to def the answer and that's my next purchase as well. But, I don't know that much about them and how they work. You may want to post your question in Transmission and Gearing. I posted one there and the title is WHICH TORQUE CONVERTER??? Go there and read everyones replies and that can also help in your buying decision!

Good luck! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Just the altitude kills me. On the dyno I put down 297 rwhp, but in reality it is more like 240 up here.

I was driving around the water box. I was not heating up my tires, not even cleaning them off, I can't even spin the tires. And they are just street tires.

The car does not jump off the line and it feels like it has to "wind up" before it starts pulling good. Almost every car I raced against had about the same time as me. The thing was though, they always beat me off the line, and then I started pulling hard on them after that. I think the first 1/8 is what is killing me.

Why can't you spin your tires? How old are they? Are your brakes good/clean? You need to heat those bad boys up!! You can shave up to two tenths off your time. The car grips the track and stays gripped. Also, are you letting out any air pressure? You're probably at about 32psi right now. Next time, let it down to 27psi. The tires will expand 2psi when you heat them up. If you don't see a difference, go down by 2s. Don't go past 22psi though.

That altitude thing sucks. I'm sorry. It's kinda like us and humidity - it kills us here. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I don't know what else to tell you. If that's what most of the other cars were running, then it just sounds that that's how it is there. Here, we hate dragging in the summer. It adds almost a full second on to your time. I get so mad at my car in the summer. I just have to wait untill it all cools off and the humidity calms down.

Our 2.73 gears are actually a blessing when it comes to adding on 'verters. So, as much as we hate them now, we'll love them when we finally get our 'verters!! But right now, I feel your pain. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

My tires are almost new, my brakes are fine.
The reason i can't spin my tires worth a damn is because of the lack of HP at this altitude, 2.73 gearing, and crappy stock converter.

Basically i don't have enough torque down low to spin, and too low stall to get me up into the power.

And yes, I have also read that 2.73 cars benefit the most from a higher stall.
I can't wait.

I sorry. That just sucks. Don't get frustrated though. You're just going to have to work around it. . . . or move to a different state!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> But if I was you, I'd just ask the other LS1 owners around there what they do. Down here, to play against the heat, we put bags of ice on our intakes before we race. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Little things like that are what you need to find out from people in your area. . . .

From what people around here tell me, I should either get different gears or a TC, I think I am going to get the TC.

Thanks for your help! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Uh, if you're not spinning at all off the line and are cutting 2.4x-2.3x 60' foot times something is REALLY wrong. It's possible to cut 2.0s on street tires, well at least where I live it is. You need to work on your launches. If you weren't spinning at all off the line, then foot brake it up as high it will go. It seems seems strange that you're cuttin 2.3x without spinning. Another thing is to make sure your car is reaching WOT. The floor mat, your shoe, or something else may be getting in the way, or you need to do the throttle stop mod.

At a sea level track that same car would be in the mid 13s w/2.0 60s.

Default First time at the track

First let me say that this was at Bandimere in Colorado at 5800 ft.

My best run:

R/T - 1.07
60' - 2.36
330 - 6.517
1/8 - 9.811
MPH - 75.08
1000 - 12.595
1/4 - 14.903
MPH - 98.36

(It calculates out to be about 13.88 @ 105 corrected)

weight (with me in the car): 3600 lbs.

With the 2.73's it seems like it takes forever for the car to get moving.
And the car didn't shift into 3rd until the very last moment.

I was foot braking it every time and I barely got any wheel spin even on my street tires.
The stock converter seems to flash stall to about 1600 is all, so it really feels weak off the line if I just mash the gas.

my 60's were (in order):
2.449, 2.411, 2.394, 2.360, 2.373
so i was getting better as the night went on.

I need a high stall converter! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
With a 3000 stall converter, would the car shift into 2nd and then 3rd sooner?
