Default Getting my feet wet again

Tonight I headed out to our local 1/8th mile dragstrip for some real racing. I haven't done anything but test & tune since gettingthe car back together, and I have been itching to do some racing for awhile. Unfortunately the weather hasn't been very cooperative.

Anyway, I ran "Super Pro," which is the full electronics class. I've been doing a little practicing with the delay box, and finally almost have it down. If you've never done any "top bulb" racing, it takes a bit of getting used to.

I lost 1st round, but it was a close one... I had a .506 light and broke out with a 6.559 on a 6.57 dial in, to my opponents .518 light and 6.115 on a 6.11 dial. I backed off a little (scrubbing ~3mph or so off my car), but it wasn't enough. I got there 1st by .028, so I had a little more room to play with, but it was a tight race.

I know there aren't a lot of hardcore bracket racers here, but it just felt good to put a dial in on the window, even if I was back on the trailer early.

I can't wait to run some NHRA S/ST races now!

Iam hradcore! <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Great to see ya racing. I have had a bunch of races just like that one this year. The great thing is that I have also won alot of those close races this year. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I will be racing tonight at Sealy Texas with all the new changes that Madman has done, I hope to see some major SKY! <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Sunday, I will be at TAD racing for double track points. I am fighting hard to make enough points to make it to the Bracket Finals on Oct.19th and 20th. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

I can't wait to run some NHRA S/ST races also! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Good luck to ya George. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

PS. Great light. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Man it's a real bummer to lose on a 5.06 light <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
I have won and lost many close races like that too.
Do you guys have a TAG weather station?

Nope, no TAG weather station. I have a $90 barometer from Jeg's that I use. It's pretty consistent, but the temperature always seems to read high.

I ran bracket racing today too but did terrible! My car is not running right (both 02 sensors are toasted) so I never knew what the heck to dial in. I went with a 14.68 (yes, the car was running REAL BAD!) and in the first round I cut a nice .522 light (to my opponents .580) but then I ran a terrible 14.84 (did I mention my car was running crap?) to lose by .034. My opponent dialed a 12.80 and ran a 12.87 (he's got a Paxton blown LT1 6 speed, and is deadly consistent with such a wild combination!)

That's the end of the bracket racing for me for this year. I only run brackets at my car club's 4 drag days each year. I'll hit the track once more in 3-4 weeks to catch some cool weather, but I'll just do TNT. Once I get my 02 sensors fixed I am gunning for 13.79 in my bone stock LT1 (bone stock other than super sticky Toyo RA-1 tires that is) My previous best with this LT1 is 13.89 at 98.2mph, on a 2.04 60ft.
