Will my car be 9's capable?

Trying to decide if I want to spend the money on a 10 point cage, or just get an 8 point.

So .... Will my car be capable of 9.99 or better quarter mile:

Full weight 1999 TA plus 600 lbs for big battery, roll cage, stereo, sound deadener, fluid coolers, rear end, and me.

I am hoping for 625-650 RWHP on Ethanol. 345/40r17 drag radials

Is it an auto or m6? It’ll be close but I don’t think you’ll break 9s with that weight.

M6. That is what I was thinking. It might have the ability to hit 9's, but it would be barely, and that would require a perfect pass.

Roll bar is good down to 10.00...no need for a cage.

Yep. That is why I was asking. If I hit 9.99, I will have to have a 10 point cage and window net.

I am going 8 point roll bar with swing out door bars

Why 8 and 10? I'm old and maybe out of date, but it was 6-point roll bar to 10.00 and 8-point roll cage to 8.50.

I'm a little less horsepower and little less weight than you, and I'm a 10.0 car all day. But I'm also auto with 1.3x 60'.

Last I knew was like above... 6 point good to a 10.0.
I think 9.90's "might be" ok at some tracks when the weather's good and some techs might turn a blind eye ?

Once you're talking 9's or faster... now you need your cage cert'd, get a comp license, just for starters.

8 is a 6 point with sub-frame down bars. Just more structurally sound.

I thought the 8 had kickers off main to trans tunnel ? Quick look around...see what you're saying.

6pt Roll Baris NHRA legal in a hard top car from 11.49 to 10.00 qtr mile times at the time of this writing and would add a driver and passenger side diagonal door bar to a 4pt bar.

8pt Roll Bar

Same as a 6pt with the addition of two (NHRA D bars) commonly called kickers by many. The addition of kickers to a roll BAR are not required by NHRA and don’t allow you to run any faster than a 6pt BAR. Kickers do add additional cage and chassis structure especially when attached to frame connectors or some type of undercarriage tubular structure in a unibody or full frame car.

We are talking about the same thing. Wolfe Racecraft called them subframe down bars. I didn't know that they were actually called kickers.
