Default All Bolt-ons, Head/Cam, Slicks SS runs a 13.0???

I have a friend who has a 2000 Red Z28, His mods:
Aluminum Heads/Cam, 3000 Stall, 3:73's, HPP3, 160 Stat, Lid/Filter, Ported TB, SLP Longtube Headers, No Cats, Borla Full Cat-back, 3" Cutout, ET Streets, All Free Mods, FTRA,Racing Transmission, 12-Bolt,All free Mods, and other mods that all i can remember right now. We took it to the track and the best we could get out of the car was a 13.0@106(I think). He spent 14,000 dollars and he was very upset. We made several passes and all 13.0. My friends 2001 SS that was with us has HPP3, slicks, Mac Headers, and a cutout and went a 13.2. Just dont know
Oh, and with a 150 shot of NOS he went a 12.4. What do you all think, was it a lemon? He hit a 14.9 stock, just goes to show that not ALL the Camaros out of the factory are strong....

Assuming suspension is Ok and engine is Ok - Did he try that less-known driver mod?

What are the specs on the heads and cam? Who did the work? What was his 60'? Are you sure that was his mph? What was the elevation of the track? Weather, raceweight?

Something is not right, lol. Although going from a 14.9 to a 13.0 is a decent gain.

Not sure I would say, it might have been one of our sponsors
Who did the work?

I didn't see slicks on the list of mods for the Z28. No traction on take off will kill the time no matter what. At least, that's my problem. I wouldn't know otherwise.

Well, it seems as if your friend has the only 200 model with an LT1 in it

even if it spun like hell all the way down the track...it'd still MPH

with a 106 MPH it might as well be stock

You CAN'T compare published ET's with your car's performance. You must compare apples to apples.

Here is the BIG QUESTION:

What did the stock LS1's run that day? If they ran 100mph or faster, he has weak engine.

I've seen many mod'd LS1's run 13's. It's not uncommon. At high altitude or extremely hot days, it's very common.

Nope guys, looks like it aint getting any better. He still ran the 13.0@107. His 60' couldnt get any better than a 1.9X with SLICKS. Not sure about Specs but ill ask him...And Yes everything was OK with other SS. I ran mine and had a way faster time with simple mods. Just dont know. As for the work J&L Racing did the work, that shouldnt be the prob because they do awesome work. AND YES its an LS1 its a 2000 Z28.
As for altitude it sux but If i ran a better time with just headers, hpp3, cutout, and lid, he should do way BETTER~

A-TAP that CAR! I think there is a problem either in the tuning OR the PCM is reading something and causing a serious lack of power!

Those are what they come with and if you look a little farther you might even notice the the block is also Aluminum. But what ever that car seems to have major issues.Where was the $14k spent on the price of the ride or mods?If it was on the mods he better go back and file a lawsuit.Good Luck trying to straighten that out...

No weight reduction, yes he did spend 14K ON PARTS, checked plugs ok, going to ATAP this weekend,no sound system, elevation majorly sux but he should still do way better if i have a faster time. Dont know bout' yall but I think that maybe this was one of the slowest car GM made out of the factory, real sad, real sad. And yes he floored it, 2 different ppl drove it, same time.

If he ran 14.9 stock and 13.0 now, thats a gain of nearly 2 seconds. What part of Texas did he race in and how was the weather?

It is hard to believe, but here in El Paso TX, I have saw bone stock LS1's run 14.5. The altitude is way high here and the tracks suck. Even have grass and sand on them. Ask him is he running in El Paso.

What exactly is the elevation? That will have some bearing on the mph. Also, is he removing the driver's side floor mat??

Last what's the weight of the car?? Is he packing a major sound system, video and a built in PS2???

Good Luck

Edinburg Raceway, (South Texas). His car was so slow when he bought it he could barely beat Mustangs. Uh, that sucks but hes not he only one theres a 99 Z28 that can only pull a best of 15.1! My car went a 14.0 Stock, with HPP3, Slicks, Macs/ORP, Cutout, 3:73's I hit 12.9's NA. So that shouldnt be the case.
