Re: Madman did it!
I don't see the difference as is. Both are modified suspensions and motors. Both run nitrous, both run very impressive times.
Just because a motor is technologically superior doesn't really make it faster, just more expensive.
Again, this is still about the 4th gen suspension and who's the fastest in it. ARE's got the fastest LS1, Madman has the fastest 4th gen suspension car.

I'm sure Brian wouldn't have a problem meeting ARE halfway(St. Louis, Indianapolis, Memphis). I'll let him respond when (if) he ever wakes up tomorrow.
Again, congrats on a kickass afternoon/evening!

Re: Madman did it!
Im gonna put my .02 in here. For me its not about comparing apples to oranges. There are several ways to make a case of the similarities or difference between these cars. Its a moot point and could never be hashed out to an agreement anyways...so why argue it. Both cars were built to run a specific class..Im sure there will be a time and place for them to go head to head at some point.
I am with the group here that thinks Madmans comments are inappropriate and undeserved. Think about the two recent events that led up to this.
Event 1: ARE first in the 8s with stock style suspension with an 8.92
Event 2: Madman beats that mark with a lower time.
To understand why some of us dont like MADMANs comments you just need to read both posts. Nineball posted the original thread on the ARE car going 8s. There was NO bashing of MADMAN by Wade or ARE guys...as a matter of fact he wasnt even mentioned.
Now go to the begining of this post.
First words from MADMAN:
quote:
*** getcha some ARE!! 8.75 @ 156 1.260 60'
Can you run? Were's your money bitch??

Those type of comments along with the two or three other posts in the drag racing section calling out ARE is not exactly the type of profesional behavior I would expect from a sponsor...especially towards another sponsor.

It's an F-Body in the 8's. Thats awesome. Congrats Madman! As for the breakdowns, how far do we need to go? Look at some of the cubes on these LS1's, needless to say, anything in the 8's is flyin. Run what ye brung.

Re: Madman did it!
That is a nice run. The reason I don't subscribe to Hot Rod, though, is because I have an LS1 - not a small block chevy. Challenging ARE is like these guys challenging you. They are at least running the same block though!!!

Re: Madman did it!
Guys,
This is silly
I was expecting MADMAN to run a LOT faster than he did.
Wade runs 8.92@155mph OFF the footbrake with nitrous hitting about 5 feet out.
Short time of only 1.39 (which isn't all that great for an 8 second car)
With a good clean nitrous launch off the T-brake Wade will go 8.7's@~157 just like Madman did and a sixty in the 1.2's.
I give Madman props for running the number and I am sure he has more in the car.
BTW what is MADMANS raceweight? Is he running FULL interior like Wade is with ALL interior panels/carpet/front seats in place?
If he has a 3000 pound raceweight car then the difference in times is explained ENTIRELY by the weight difference in the two cars Wade could easily take out another 200 pounds and run high 8.7's LOW 8.8's OFF the FOOTBRAKE!
So while Madmans ET/MPH is a great accomplishment for a stock suspended F-body, Wade's ability to take a factory resleeved, factory headed LS1 to the 8's on stock suspension is even more impressive IMO
LS1's in the 8's = 1 (ARE)
Stock suspended LS1's in the 8's (MADMAN and ARE)
Built SBC's in the 8's (thousands)

cheers,
Chris

ARE we a bunch of LS1 SNOBS Damn For all you little b!tches out there when you're dealing with RACE cars it is almost too easy to make power but you need to be able to hook that power and thats alot harder to do
Anyway Congrats Madman your car is flying
BTW I never bought anything from A.R.E. or Madman and probably never will
