Re: Who has the fastest T Topped car?
i have a friend that is going mid 8s in a 10" tire 4-linked thirdgen
looks completely stock from the side minus the cowl hood and blower whine....then when it turns the corner you are like, "why does it have wheelie bars and a chute?"

Re: Who has the fastest T Topped car?
Not trying to give the impression of arogance that I have an ultra fast T topper, but my times are in sig. Best NA w/ ET Streets is thru every little bit of crimped, crushed bent, flattened out dual cat stock exhaust all the way tot he tips. The other runs are noted w/ or w/out cutout. All done with 1/2 tank or just over 92 octane. I dunno the "DA" whatever that is, but I'm in Hawaii and it's realitively humid. Lets see some more times. The best ET Street was with the spare tire and full street trim, leather interior and others minus spare tire only - for comparo's.

Not sure on the mph, but 35thSS runs the wifes car at like 12.6, on ET Streets similar other mods(using similar loosely of course), no power adder, stock internal.

Re: Who has the fastest T Topped car?
I was just interested how much if at all the t tops were slowing cars down because of the weak roof. Anyone crack a t top from torque yet. I am just interested in my possibilities with my car.

Those t-tops are beefy, and the hardtop is thin, flexible plastic that pushes/bends/deflects easily with a little pressure from your hand. Aggressive car washing has made the hardtop "buckle". IMO, T-Tops are better when closed. Shawn

Re: Who has the fastest T Topped car?
t-top cars arent any weaker. the hardtop and t-tops cars have the exact same structure, the hardtop cars just have a thin panel of fiberglass for a roof. 3rd gens are the same way, they both have the same roof frame, the hardtop cars just have a very thin sheetmetal panel for the top

i know on 4th gens its true because whens its chilly out and there is moisture on the roof of a 4th gen you can make out the t-top frame, thats why conversions are so easy for them
i *think* it isn't as easy on a thirdgen. I am definately not 100% on this and would have to look it up somehow, but thought maybe you could explain it to me

Re: Who has the fastest T Topped car?
Here's the skinny. 4th gens use the SAME top whether it's a ttop or hardtop. The hardtops even have the lips for the seals in then already. Weight it the only real difference. And oh, to the guy who made the comment about the SFC's, when you bought the car it was time for those ;-)

My times are in the sig and we plan to cut at least 1.5 seconds off of that time in 2003 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

I dont want to sound ignorant, but i don't know what the SFC abbreviation stands for? Has to do with the leaking during rain or what? I just don't know <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I've run 9.82 with Ts.
"I was just interested how much if at all the t tops were slowing cars down because of the weak roof. Anyone crack a t top from torque yet."
Seriously, T-tops are no doubt STRONGER than hard tops. I can stand on my T-tops without worry of damage. Can you do that with a hard top? I wouldn't try it!
Just get a set of SFCs. After 3 years and MANY 1.4-1.3 second 60 ft launches my T-tops don't leak a drop. By the time you start getting really fast you'll have a rollcage and that will take out all flex in your car. The T-tops will think your car is bone-stock.
