shakedown run, NEW BEST!
Made the trek up to Gainesville tonight to make a few shakedown runs. Nothing special, just went looking to make it from point A to point B and ended up coming home with a few new bests. I am having a little shiftpoint problem with my 2-3 shift which is skewing my quarter mile ET, but my eighth miles are shaping up nicely... Here's a little rundown...
r/t .584
60' 1.493
330 4.442
1/8 6.968
mph 96.10
1/4 11.041
mph 120.88
OK, so whoever said that a 6.999 in the 1/8 equaled a 10.999 in the quarter should be shot. I made a total of 5 passes, 3 of which were 11.doh's. All in all I'm pretty happy with how the night went, and most importantly, I came home in one piece. Now the fun begins getting her dialed in and in race trim.
Thanks again to Mike and Norris Motorsports for a great motor combination and for putting up with all of my questions when I was trying to put it back together.
Car is a Norris Motorsports 346, with his stage 2 heads with a 228/228 cam. Stock rebuilt tranny, stock rear with 3.23's...

Joey, your car looked great. I kept meaning to get over there, but like you said, the timing was never right... I hope you don't think I'm rude.

Joe99SS,
Congrats on your new bests.
I guess that I should be shot.
Iam the one that said said that a 6.999 in the 1/8 equaled a 10.999 in the quarter. The reason I say this is because the NHRA index for 10.90 in the 1/4 is 6.90 in the 1/8th.
I have about 17 passes now in the 11.0 doh's. So I really feel your pain.

Congrats! I ran ten 11.doh passes with my 382ci and ended up selling it before I ran a 10.xxx
Thats okay though, the 434ci is fun too
You will get there, thats sweet for "shakedown" passes!

I am running a TP4400 and I have hal shocks all around, non-adjustable LCA's and panhard bar, tubular k-member and a-arms, stock torque arm... Weather was 52degrees, 82%humidity and 30.19in barometer, and we are near sea level.

Nice! The reason your car is strong the first 1/8th mile and dies off a bit the rest of the way might be your gearing. You go through the 1/8th at the top of 2nd but go through the 1/4 on the converter.
I'm thinking of throwing some 3.23s back in my car too for the local 1/8th mile track. You might have made my mind up to try it.

Re: shakedown run, NEW BEST!
Thanks guys! I appreciate all the comments... I have no idea what the car weighs, I've done a lot of little things while I've been waiting for the shortblock to be built, so I myself am dying to get on a scale. I was hoping to find one last night, but it looks like I need to stop at a truck stop this weekend.
Hey Terry, I have a 12-bolt on order with some 3.73's in it, so hopefully that will help out some. I know I'm going through the traps at too low an RPM now, so hopefully that'll be enough. I'd also like to try locking the converter as well once I get used to the car again.

Wow looks great!!!
I always wondered how a car would trap with 3.23's, are you on 26" slicks?
Could other factors have causes the car to fall off for the last 1/2 of the run, too lean or something?

Re: shakedown run, NEW BEST!
it was hitting the limiter before it would shift into 3rd... I thought I had the shift-point lowered enough, but it needs just another mph or two...
