Mikey explain how you made up the .05 sec you lost in the 60ft time from run three to run four while only running .46mph fast in the eighth while the et's were only .0013 sec difference.

I know the answer I just want to see how many other people can figure it out...

Well Joe, you actually got me thinking, and you're right, the car should have et'ed better with the 1.299 short. Looking back through the videos and slips, I figured it out.

After most every run, I fooled with the suspension limiters and shock settings. Early on, the track was a little slick so I raised the travel and took some out of the shocks.

There was one run that I pulled the shift early because the car tried to wheel stand again. Look at the video and see for yourself. This is the run I pulled second before the light which is why the MPH was lower. If I would have ridden the wheelstand out, the et and MPH would have been better. The four 9.78 slips show that the MPH on the 1.299 short was lower than all other runs. I was also adding fuel between some of the runs so the weight was changing a little. The last run, I moved my shift point a little lower too.

Here are all four 9.78 slips:

Run 1:
9:25am
60': 1.330
1/8: 6.207
MPH: 110.14
1/4: 9.787
MPH: 136.72

Run 2(suspension change):
10:04am
60': 1.299 (wheel stand)
1/8: 6.193
MPH: 109.79
1/4: 9.789
MPH: 136.07

Run 3: (tighten suspension again)
10:27am
60': 1.318
1/8: 6.203
MPH: 110.03
1/4: 9.785
MPH: 136.76

Run 4: (hot lapped)
10:38am
60': 1.350 (slight tire haze)
1.8: 6.207
MPH: 110.25
1/4: 9.783
MPH: 136.88

There you go bud...

Mikey

1.299 60' is absolutely AWESOME!
More people should appreciate the knowledge that Steve possesses and the quality of his suspension parts. http://www.spohn.net/

As soon as my car is finished it will be back at Steve's shop, for the installation of a New and total custom Spohn rear suspension.

Keep at it, 9.6's are just a couple of track days away.

The only thing we were fooling with was the suspension limiters and front shock setting. It's amazing how much of a difference a little suspension travel makes. Let me know when you are headed over to Steve's shop, and I'll make the drive over.

Mikey your 60ft times are spread over a five hundreths of a second while your quarter mile times were in a range of six thousanths of a secounds... I wish you would pass on your secrets to how you make your car recover from different lanch times and end up crossing the finish line with such a consistant et and mph.. We could put that knowledge to use on our Outlaw car.

It was very frustrating to pick up four 9.78 slips. Especially when seeing that 1.299. There were a few other F-body guys there too that can confirm it, Steve Spohn included. We actually had a good laugh out of it. It doesn't make sense to me either. I do manually shift the TH-350 so that may have something to do with it. If I was a bracket racer, I would be happy.

The other four runs (total of 8) were a 9.903 @ 136.11, 1.405 60' (spinning), 9.897 @ 136.15, 1.400 60' (still spinning), 9.822 @ 136.18, 1.327 60' (shifted too high) and 9.809 @ 136.58, 1.345 60'.

The car is very sensitive to where I pull the shifts.

Either way, the car is awesome and I am very happy with it. Agostino Racing Engines has done a great job building the plant. It's my job to tune the rest and I am getting better at it every time I go. Just wish I had more time to play with the car. For the most part it sits under a cover in my shop between weekends. Pitty to back it off the trailer with rubber on the quarters from the week before...

I wish you would scan all those timeslips and post them.... That would be interesting especially if the track had 330ft and 1000ft clocks.

I was there yesterday.I can vouch for all of his runs. He constantly messed with the suspension. Made a few runs and adjusted some more. It didnt matter how he left the line.It is a consistant car for sure!
Its funny how all the other fast cars went back to the pitsafter every run. Mikey could hot lap no problem. People kept coming up to the car saying its "bulleproof".

Hmmm...could it possibly be that you are shifting 1/2 right near the 60 ft lights? IE...sometimes you click the shifter just before, sometimes just after? That might account for the differences. Spinning makes no sense, as your ultimate ET is pretty much unaffected.

I agree with Joe...would be real interesting to see the 330 ft times, as they should show very consistent.

It took a while to do these because they are very light.

Mikey something's going on with the car on the launch... I don't know what but the timeslips will tell if it's the car are the tracks timing equipment.

It's not just me Bob noticed it also.
