Help me bench race here and pick my next mods!
Car is running 11.6-11.7@117mph consistantly, but with a weak 1.7x 60ft on most runs.
Here are the mods I was thinking about:
Skinnies- I have heavier aftermarket 17 inch rims w/ 275/40/17's on the fronts. I think I can shave .1 to maybe .2 (if I'm lucky) and pick up a mph or 2.....all this for like $500?
Steel Flywheel- Gonna swap the steel flywheel back in for more interia off the line, this aluminum flywheel is killing me! Maybe a tenth?....I have to find a used flywheel, have it resurfaced, an installed. I'm looking at probably $250 for this one, but can sell the aluminum flywheel for $125-$150 maybe?
Gears- Well, I don't want to spend the money on 4.30's since I plan on a power adder in the future.... I can get all the parts, installed for about $450. I'm told that I should get about .2/2mph over my 3.73's.
So my question to all of you is, am I on the right track? Are my numbers off? What would you do first, second, third.....
Or should I just say screw it all and get a direct port kit with accessories for the same cost of all that stuff?

drop some weight out of the car! thats all you need to do with the addition of skinnies. Your car is running good times for being a heavy pig... drop a few hundred pounds off and you will see a BIG pickup in MPH and ET
with that HP she put down you will have no trouble running low 11's with your car as she sits now!

I want to drop weight off of my car as well, but I don't want to risk the driviability on the street, I drive my car every single day its nice out...I wouldn't feel safe w/out bumper supports, and some of the other stuff...
I've taken out...
Front Sway bar, 21mm SLP one, heavy..
A/C and all the components
No rear seats/seat belts
No spare/jack

Headers ?? lbs
True dual exhaust (no cats) ?? lbs
! Spare tire and jack 40lbs
! front sway bar 15lbs
Lightweight carpet 20lbs
Carbon Fiber Driveshaft 10 lbs (over steel shaft)
Eradispeed rotors (6 lbs)
Aluminum flywheel 15lbs
But I added back the following:
roll cage 50lbs
12 bolt 40lbs
beefier suspension ~25lbs
sub/box/amp ~ 50lbs
Optima Yellow top battery ~10lbs
Heavier front wheels ~15lbs over stock
So as you can see my weight reduction mods aren't working too well since I keep adding weight too
This is still my daily driver and I refuse to do mods that make the car looked stripped. The only mods I think I will do that won't diminish the look of the car are:
Skinnies- 50lbs
15" rear rims- 25lbs?
K member/ A-arm- 40lbs
racing seats- 25lbs?
bolt on hood- 20lb
!Air- 10lbs
HAL coilovers- 10lbs
maybe a lighter battery ~20lbs
That is almost 200 lbs I could take off, but how much is that going to run me?
$1000 for wheels/tires, $600-$800 for seats, $800 for K member/A arms, $500 for hood w/ paint, $150 for battery.......at a cost of over $3000.....I'd rather just buy more mods.

I'd leave the gears and put that money toward a set of drag wheels. You'll drop 80-100lbs of unsprung weight(the good kind) which equals between 2.5 to 4 times sprung weight
Also lightweight mods are just as good as power mods

Yer too fast already. Don't do anything
My skinnies are light as hell - especially compared to the 17" stock wheels. They're a good mod.

The lightweight flywheel is killing you. Go back to stock. Otherwise blow the money on gears. What are you after? Handlin or dragin?
Otherwise, ditch the rear brakes. Seriously, they weigh a ton and arent really needed on a m6.

Rear brakes will stay.
