Racing at OUTLAW tracks? Should we be concerned?
One of my favorite local tracks went outlaw last year. It is no longer IHRA.
From a personal standpoint, does IHRA insurance extend to the racers or not really? Typical track waivers cover stuff like that, and I don't think we are covered in case of accidents or injury...

So, the IHRA and NHRA (as I understand it) provide provisional insurance that tracks can purchase. Sort of like a group purchase. This allows them to reduce their liability in the event of a serious incident. No matter what waiver we sign when we go in we all know that suing for loss of life or anything serious is always a possibility. Additionally, you can get deals on insurance as well.
However, regardless of the track being IHRA, NHRA or Outlaw there is no provisions in their insurance that covers your vehicle while you go down the track. So from the burnout box to the time slip there's no coverage. Their policy however does cover you on personal injury stuff that happens around the grounds.
Anyway that's my $.02 on it. Ideally we should all consider looking at getting our own policies. I understand it's fairly inexpensive, but I've never checked on what it covers or doesn't cover.

Where should we start or were should we look for insurance? I asked my company insurance agent about this subject last year and all he said was it would be reeeaaaal expensive. I don't think he really knew.
Anyone?

I would start by looking at the insurance carriers for both the IHRA and NHRA. There are also some carriers that actually race in the NMCA. We could check around through those companies as well. I'm not sure what they cover though. But if all else fails there's always Lloyds of London. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />
