TCI 3500 1/4 mile results!
Info about the car...
It's internally stock.
It has the stock 3.23 gears.
It only has the spare and jack removed.
It's a fully optioned heavy car.
It runs on 17" wheels and radial tires all the way around.
It's lowered about an inch and the swaybar is bolted up just as the factory put it.
I was already impressed with this converter when I ran 7.50 in the 1/8 two weekends ago.
The only change made was LCA relocators.
The weather was clear and cold. I was told the DA was -975.
The track wasn't hooking when I first got there (first pass was a 12.04@112.69 with a lousy 60 ft time of 1.76) but it started coming around as more and more cars put some heat in it. It took a few more passes and then I ran 11.97@112.69 with a still lousy 60 ft of 1.71. Then things started getting better. 11s got easier.
So my buddy John Norris pulls up beside me in the staging lanes. We rolled the windows down and I asked him how he wanted his crow (he'd had his doubts that I could break 11s with no weight reduction.) We smoked 'em down, let 'em rip and...hey, where's John? I gave him the thumbs up as I crossed the finish line with an 11.82@113.12 to his 12.16@115.87. My 60 ft time was 1.61! The 1/8 was 7.48@90.57. The best MPH of the night was 90.65 in the 1/8 and 113.35 in the 1/4.
With a set of ET Streets I believe this converter has 1.5s in it.

Stephen,
I posted in the other topic about your car and converter.
I looked for you after that run but you were nowhere to be found. I had to leave early so I went on home.
That was a great run. You did what… three burnouts on that one run? Hell I could not see for all the smoke! What amazes me the most is your 1/8 at 7.487 @ 90.57. My best 1/8 as a bolton SI car is a 7.442 @ 90.63 with a 1.59 60’ and that was with the YPT4000 converter. Race weight was about 3460 and the DA was -34’. That 60’ is real strong for a 3600lb (just a guess) race weight as well.

Sorry about that. Guess we missed each other. I think I picked Kelly up then and made a couple of runs with her in the car (best was 11.97 with her.) Then we ran up to the Entec and got a splash of go-juice. I met you as I was turning off of the bypass onto MMP's road. I waved but you didn't see me.
Man I really enjoyed our race, John! You certainly had me on the MPH if you coulda hooked. What tires were you running? I found that the only way I could hook last night was to burnout, pull up close to the line and do another short dry burnout to stage. I was having a little trouble with this posi last night. If one side had a little more traction than the other on the burnout it went peglegged.
I remember what all it took to run 11.5s with my '00. It would be NOTHING to run 11.5s with this car. All I'd need is some slicks on Welds, skinnies, and maybe pull 50 lbs. In the '00 I had it GUTTED, 3.89 gears and a 4600 stall! The raceweight was probably 300 lbs lighter than I am now. These '02s are most definitely faster by a good margin.

Re: TCI 3500 1/4 mile results!
I was running the 245/16 Nitto DRs. The same ones I had on that Black WS6 convertible I had. The tires are about 2 years old. I have never been able to hook on Nittos.
I did not see you coming in off the bypass. I had both my boys with me so I was probably preoccupied with them.
I might go back out to MMP Sunday in race trim and see what the car can really do. They are open from 12 till dark. I am sure the track will hook much better during the day.

Re: TCI 3500 1/4 mile results!
Colonel,
Does TCI have a tech line so I can call and ask a few questions about their verters? I am wanting something similar to a YTP4400. Your success with this verter is really pushing me in TCI's direction. With the weight off your car 1.5's are in the bank. Thanks, sorry to HIJACK your thread.

"It only shows this converter can run number similar to yank and vigi."
Yes, and that's exactly the point. A $500 converter doing what the big boys are doing. I think that's pretty encouraging to the value hunters out there.
"How loose is the TCI 3500?"
In 2nd and 3rd gear during fairly aggressive acceleration I'm doing about 3000-3400 RPM with 3.23 gears.
"Does TCI have a tech line so I can call and ask a few questions about their verters?"
I'm sure they do but I don't know it. Maybe Kevin Winstead can point you in the right direction. Their website is www.tciauto.com ,btw.
"I was waiting for someone to say that?"
Yes, I was too but I kinda expected it to be you. Tim, you disappoint me.

Hey Tim and 4mulaJoe, I have a challenge for you...
Here is the list of all bolt-on cars as fast or faster than mine. Look through the list and find me ONE car that is full weight, has 3.23 gears, and a converter of ANY brand that stalls to 3500 or less. Good luck!
