What rear springs is everyone using?
I have a strip car only and have Adj Hals in front and rear with Hal front springs. What is the best drag spring for the rear the, Eibach Pro kit, BMR's springs etc.. i really dont want the Eibach drag launch springs because the ride height goes up a little in the rear.
Thanks for any info

Camaro V6springs in the rear. I think quite a few guys are running this way.

I currently have Hal springs in front and 99TA springs in back.
I had 95 V6 springs in back before, but once you run big slicks the v6 springs will make the car squat too much... too much weight transfer.
V6 springs work great on the street with drag radials too.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
I talked to BMR today and they told me not to run V6 springs because that is going to a softer spring and he said to run a stiffer spring in the rear like there BMR lowering springs or the Eibac Pro kit they are alot stiffer than a stock spring. And thats what i might go with.

Nice comparison John. Looks like the V6 springs are better for a bolton setup and the big motors should revert back to the stock rate springs in the rear.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
Now the confusion begins.
The springs on a drag car are useless after the release of the brake, t-brake or clutch. At this point the shock takes over(this is why you need good shocks) The springs on these latemodels work the best if you use a v6 or a v8 non ws6 or ss rate. The eibach drag springs are a waste and the rate of a v6 spring is the same as a formula or camaro v8 with out the WS6 option. Spend your money on a good shock and go to the auto parts store and spend $50.00 on some stock springs.

Like I said, I have the V6 rear springs but I also am running C/E rear shocks and dual air bags.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
Here is what my suspension consist of:
Front:
(NEW)Hal Shocks
(NEW)Hal Springs
No sway bar
Rear:
(NEW) BMR LCA relo brackets
Spohn Adj. Torque arm
Spohn Adj. LCA's
Spohn Non-Adj PHB
Stock V8 Trans Am springs
C/E Adj. shocks
28x10.5x15 E.T Drag
The car made 420 rwhp and 400 tq. N/A
I dont know what else suspension things i can do but change the rear springs to a V6 or a aftermarket spring, but i have not been to the track with the Hals on yet or the relo brackets. My Best pass on a converter that would only foot brake to 2400rpms is 7.80 @ 90mph w/ a 1.74 60ft. N/A. Now i have a 8" converter that will foot brake to 4500 no problem and with the new Hals and brackets i think it will run alot better.
And i was just wondering what the best rear spring is for drag use only.
Here are a few pics of my T/A

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
Small correction, the V6 springs are the same I think as of 1998... But the earlier stuff like my old 1995 springs are a different spring rate there used to be chart for the info...
V6 springs are a good spring for those drag radial guy who don't plan to do good shocks, might even better better for M6 guys.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
If you are on a 28" slick like me you don't need V6 springs in back... I run the front QA shocks at 2/2 and the rears at 4/5 and have cut 1.49-1.50's all day long, assuming you have enuff engine and stall to warrant being on that big of a tire.
Like I said above, the V6 springs are good for the person who will never do good shocks, and perhaps only races on a drag radial.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
Like I said, I still have the stock springs in the rear. With Madman's torque arm and a Wolfe Racecraft anti-roll bar, the QA1 shocks, etc, my best 60' to date is 1.32...
I think the stock shocks are OK.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
Well i put the new shocks on and the relo brackets on and left the stock rear springs on and the new converter that foot brake to 4800 and flash to 5300 shifting at 7000 its way to loose it never locked up going down the track net result was a disappointing performance 8.01 83mph w. 1.8 60ft. I just finished pulling the converter and having it tighned up. This car should be pulling 1.5's at 92 or 93 mph w/ some 7.50 e.t's.
Thanks for everyones help i think im going to stay with the stock springs right now.

Re: What rear springs is everyone using?
I'm running some eibach lowering springs in the rear....
Still off of the firehawk bilstein suspension from SLP....was supposed to have V8's put on a while back, never got to it..
In the following weeks I plan to put V8 springs in the back along w/an Airbag....should help the squatting...
