I think they are pretty close in weight, I have a red top, feels pretty heavy...defiently not a light weight part...and mine has died on me once already...

Anyone else have problems with the redtop or is this an isolated incident. I have been really thinking about getting one soon but dont want any problems with it.

I've had a red top Optima battery in my car for almost 2 years without any charging problems; and I've used many different stereo combinations as well.
As for the weight difference, I don't know.

There are 3 red top models listed on jeg's:
75/35 -- 33.1lbs
34 -- 37.9lbs
34/78 -- 38.8lbs
...now if someone knows how much the stock bat weighs.
I have 75/35 for 3 months now and hasn't had issue. (FWIW, it runs my 2 amps and a 10in sub for an hr. and still able to start the car).
