Default Yank PT4400 guys, where does your converter flash?

I just installed a YPT4400 this past weekend. I wanted to see if it would flash to 4400 rpms so I tried a few WOT shots at the beginning of 2nd and 3rd gear. First gear would be useless because I'm on street tires right now.

From a 2nd gear punch at 40 mph (just above the point where it will drop down to 1st) my converter is flashing at 5300+ rpms! From a 3rd gear punch at 75 mph (just above the mph where it will drop down to 2nd) it does the same thing. I thought it should flash to right about 4400 rpms? I know the vigalantes are known for flashing higher than their stall rpms but I didn't think the Yanks were that way.

Where does your Yank flash to? What about at the drag strip?

With my PT4000 at the drag strip (before cam) from the time I punch it my RPM does not drop below 5600 for the entire run. 1-2 shift RPM drops to 56-5700. 2-3 is the same. This is with 6200 RPM shift points and 3.23 gears. With the cam add about 200 RPM.

Well, that makes me feel a little better.

I also have noticed that my car shifts much later now. With the stock converter it was shifting at 6230 to 6250 rpms. Now it's shifting at 6500 rpms! I'm wondering if it has maybe caused the tach to be a little too fast because my rev limiter is set at 6400 rpms.

I still haven't been able to hit if from a stop yet. I can't wait for this Saturday when my local drag strip opens. I hope this converter hits as hard as everyone says it does.

Don't mix up flash stall vs. shift extension. You can check your stall by one of two ways: 1) if your brakes will hold, you can check it in either first gear (3.06) or reverse (2.29 gear) by hammering the brakes & e-brake if needed and then start increasing your throttle amount until the rpm's no longer increase, or 2) electronically lock the car in 2nd or 3rd gear (Tech 2, etc.) to make it easier to do so due to the gear ratios vs. 1st or reverse.
