Default How much do i need to hit low 7's?

went to the track last nite and the best i could do was 9.06 with a crappy 2.35 60ft(1/8). i mean i didnt even have any car that i could race, i had not gone to the track in a while and it seems that cars just keep getting faster, and i mean cars that before i could beat. my friends 91 5.0 vert ran a 7.15!!
my question is how much rwhp does he have to get those times? he was running full slicks.
also how much rwhp would i need to get those times, with a lets say 2.0 60ft?
right now all im planning on doing is getting some dr's and a 150 wet shot, but of course i know that wont get me there. now for some of u i know low 7's isint much but our track here sucks. stock lt1's run around 9.40's and slightly modded 5.0's run around the same times. we are right at sea level but its just that the track sucks *****. so what do u guys think??

well then you're killing yourself right there by getting dr's and 2.0 60's. the 60' is a huge part of the race, and even more so on an 1/8 mile track. i don't know how much power you need to get low 7's with a 2.0 sixty, but it had better be a LOT to make up for it! work on your suspension first and go from there. you can have all the power in the world, but if you can't get it to the pavement, you're never gonna go fast.

Dave

Well, we're at sea level and here is a slip from my Man's ride from last week.

On slicks, his 60' is a 1.698

1/8th 7.479 MPH 93.96

1/4 11.64 @ 119.07

His car is a stage II heads, larger cam 6 speed. Low 7's is achievable, but you are going to have to cut a good 60' like above. Our buddy can run a 7.29 @ 94.50 but he's cutting a 1.60 60' with a heads/cam TH 400 Z.

I don't have any slips here with them spraying a 150 shot but our friend runs around 10.3 @ 135 on a 150 off the line he's around 106 MPH in the 1/8th but I am unsure what his 1/8th ET is.

Times and mods in sig, like everyone else has said, it's all about the 60ft. My 1/8th mile times are 7.60s N/A and 7.20s on the juice. The car was also short shifting, 6300 instead of 6500, so that should be worth a little, I'll find out next season. Good luck!

1/8 th mile you are going to need to work on suspension more than HP.

In the 1/8th all you need is traction and in a couple seconds the race is over. Get slicks and some suspension parts and that will help the most in the 1/8th.

With a 150 shot and a 1.6x 60ft. my car will usually run 7 flat. Get the car hooking alittle better and you should be pretty close. I imagine it might be alittle harder to hook with the M6 though.
