Will 16's be okay? Newbie here, please chime in if your knowledgeable. -QMP Turbo car -600rwhp/700rwtq. -6-speed, Ford 9" w/3.42's -I have Fikse FM-5 17x11's w/315 Nitto DR's for street -I want matching rims for the track and found some 16x9 FM-5's. Questions: 1. Will a 26" slick on a 16" rim be okay for the 1/8 mile? What about the 1/4? 2. I know I will be losing an inch of sidewall compared to if I had a 15" rim. Would a 27" slick be better or equal on a 16" rim? 3. What size tire DO I NEED so that I'm not crossing the traps at 4500rpm in fourth or shifting to 5th through the finish line in the 1/8th? In the 1/4? 4. The rim is only 9" wide. Is that gonna be wide enough? If so, what tire and what size do I need? Important: 5. If the 16" rim won't cut it on the track, will it hook on the street for rolling runs since it won't need the larger sidewall for launches? I figure it should just need a sticky tire and wide enough contact area. What size and tire should I run? It will probably need to be long(er) lasting than straight slicks. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP. |
