I am fixing to put a set of 4.86's in the car soon..I think during the hot summer months with my combo a 4.86 would be ideal and the 4.71's would be right for winter months..

Well the biggest tire I wanna run is a 29.5x10.5x15, but if it really isn't necessary, then I don't wanna spend the extra money for them and have more work for them to fit. It seems that most people using 4.56 gears are running 28x10.5 ET Drags. I dont know for a fact, despite what caculators say, I've seen most people running the 4.56/28" slick combo. I'm thinking the 29.5x10.5 is too much tire for a 4.56 gear. I may be wrong though.

Ok...I used this calculator to figure some numbers:
http://www.f-body.org/gears/
With the old setup which consisted of a Yank PT4400, 4.10 gear, 26x10x15 ET Drag, 7000 rpm shift points, and a 7200 rpm rev limiter, I would cross the traps around 6800-6900 @ roughly 125. According to the calculator at 6900 rpms it shows 130 mph which is off by over 5 mph. I know I know, the calculator doesnt accomidate for tire growth or converter slippage.
With a 4.56 gear and a 28" slick at 6900 rpms it shows 126 mph.
With a 4.30 gear and a 28" slick at 6900 rpms it shows 134 mph.
With a 4.56 gear and a 29.5" slick at 6900 rpms it shows 133 mph.
With a 4.30 gear and a 29.5" slick at 6900 rpms it shows 141 mph.
Now I have a 7200 rev limiter, so I could be looking at 7000 rpms which there's no problem crossing the traps at that speed and it would bump all the trap speeds up 2 mph. Anyhow with the old setup, there was about 5 mph slippage because I was passing at roughly 6900 with a 124.5 trap speed and the calculator shows 6900 with a 130 trap speed. So let's say that the new converter had just as much slippage as the old converter and subtract 5 mph from the calculator, I would want to be looking for something in the 135 mph range so that I can really go 130 or so. That would probably be the maximum that a cam only setup will see in an automatic. So with that in hand, a 4.30 and a 28x10.5x15 would work or a 4.56 and 29.5x10.5x15 would work. What do you think would be best?

The bigger tire will make the car a little more consistant, especially if you're at the track on a night when the prep is sub-par.
