Pump the fronts up to 50 or 60.

damn, 60psi! i had my 275/40/17 factory front tires on my chrome ZR1's at 45psi at the track then aired them back down after i got home. but 60psi seems rediculous. i allways ran between 18-24psi in my 17" drag radials out back, depending how the track was hooking.

I wouldn't pump them up any higher than the maximum psi listed by the manufacturer.

Agreed. Read the article on this very subject in the October 2005 issue of GMHTP.

I didn't say I drive back and forth to the track with them up that high. It's not a problem if you're not moving long enough for them to get heated up.

i run 50 psi in my skinnys and that is the max i would recomend. as for a full sized radial, shoot, you wont gain anything at teh trak. you arent reducting any real amount of rolling resistence.

keep it at the oem or whatever the tire manufacturer recomends. all you are doing is hurting the tire by over inflating it

Not only that, but you are overstressing the wheel itself when pressures are too great. Keep pressures down to reasonable levels ESPECALLY when using them on the streets.

The tire pressure rating only refers to what is the max safe pressure allowed on the tire, it is not in reference to what is actually needed on the car. Pressure is also increased when the tire is heated.

You can use optional gasses to fill the tires such as nitrogen or argon as it does not expand to the extent as the typical compressed air-filling stations air filled tires will.
