Who drag races with Nittos?
I'm looking to get a better launch with my A4, and my god awfull Kumho Supas are finally done for. I wanted to get two nittos for the back and leave the 2 best trend Kumhos in the front.
Has anyone else had 2 different brand's on their car at once? Is that a smart thing to do? We are finally getting a third car so this will no longer be my daily driver.....
Last question, I here those nittos take a John Force burn out to really make them sticky, is this true? If so, can you really nail it off the line or do you still have to pussyfoot it??

of course people don't have nitto dr's on the front also. i personally have the cheapest tires you can get on the front- ventus hr's, 80$ each from tire rack and they are still nice tires, good looking tread pattern and all.
with your modifications ( stock stall), a good burnout and you will be able to nail the gas without worries in 60*+ weather. cooler weather will make them hook less. me on the other hand, i do a john force-style burnout and usually have to ease it out (relatively speaking, i can still come out hard as hell but not as hard as the car is capable of)- unless of course im at the track where sometimes i can get very close to launching to the car's full potential. remember, they are not slicks.

I'll sell you a set for $100.
I didn't have much luck w/ the Nitto DRs. Size was 275/50/15. If too many heat cycles are on them they tend to get hard and become worthless. Best light I ever cut w/ mine was a 1.9x. The BFG's DR I have now are very very sticky But then again all that's worthless when the track isn't prepped at all.

too many heat cycles? i am on my 3rd set of nitto's and never had that problem. they require a burnout to hook, plain and simple- but mine never got hard and worthless. some days they do hook better than other days however, but never hard and worthless.

well the set I picked up from my friend are at least 2 yrs old, but only had about 10-15 passes on them before he took them off. I could not get them to get sticky no matter how much of a burnout I did on them. Heck just comparing them side by side the BFG is sticky running your hand across it while the nittos I have are hard like a set of street rubber

nittos were worthless on my car....I run BFG and M/T drag radials only. tread life is shorter but they hook 2x as good. i guess if you want a long lasting tire the nitto will last for more races/more miles, but it wont compare to a BFG or M/T drag radial in traction. IMO.

Love my Nitto's, I cut regular 1.70-71 60' and used them all summer on my daily driver. Have to make sure plenty of smoke is rolling out or I tend to wheelhop. If heated up good, they stick like glue. I still have another season on them left. I even bought a extra set this summer to have on hand and shouldn't need them for a couple years. On a track with no prep at all I can't hook up as well and usually cut 1.9's 60'. But that is a really bad track. I figure in cool weather and track prep 1.6's are possible. Lucky my 10 bolt is still holding up!

although, i don't think i'll be getting another set of them- i may go for mickey thompson drag radials or bfg's if they make them in the right size. i street race alot and having to do huge burnout every time is annoying and attracts too much attention. if i don't roast them before hand they are worthless.

Those times are with a light launch. I used my car in the CCCA ET drag events for the last few years and recently bought the 3400 stall. I'm not to hard on the launch due to the stock 10 bolt. Only suspension mods I have done are Bilstein shocks on all 4 and boxed LCA's. I am sure a mid 1.6's run will be had pretty easy. But 1.7's are typical(at least for the last month) with the new converter. I'm not sure what the deal is with some cars, but mine never had problems hooking up with the Nitto's. Could be my car is heavy(around 3900 pounds). With the Dayton Daytona ZR all season tries I ran a few 1.89's 60'. When I put in a converter the street tires would just light up and still spin when the car shifted to 2nd. Remember I have a automatic, which is really easy to get good 60 foot times.

man!! i went to the track lsatnight with my nittos and i could only manage a 2.0 60ft. are you guys with 3400+ converters punching it hard off the line or easing into it? and what tire pressures? I was trying 19psi and a good burnout launching at around 1700ish and i spin like a ****... i have a hotcam/ls6 intake/ported TB/yank3400/3.73/bmr LCA's/bmr SFC's. i just cant get it to hook for anything.
