Driving on skinnies?
Not sure if this is the right section, but do any of you have any horror stories driving on skinnies? My car on weld draglites is about 3330lbs w/ no one in it, just guessing since I haven't weighed it with the rear draglites on, but it was 3360 w/ stock rims & tires on the back and skinnies up front. It will be about 100lbs lighter in the next month as stuff starts to come off the car.
I test fitted my skinnies last night, and decided to drive them to work a day. I only drive my car about 75-100 miles a week, but the closest track is 100 miles.. so I will still be driving a long ways to the track.
Just want to make sure I'm not doing something extremely unsafe. I rarely do over 65-70mph, unless passing.
Peace,
Josh

Have driven on skinnies quite a bit with no problems, At one time was the only front tires on the car, Now keep in mind to use a good street tire and not race only tires on the front and keep an eye on the tire pressures, dont overinflate or underinflate.
This is only my experience, i would not recommend driving on them all the time...they are NOT as safe as regular sized tires, with less tire contact it takes longer to stop a vehicle and it is less stable when manuvering.

I drive my car EVERYDAY rain, snow or shine and have never ever had any problems. have had only skinnies for about two years. even back when i was a 3600 lb M6 car i drove on skinnies. I'll drive any distance it doesn't really matter. right now i drive 90 miles a day round trip and don't have any reason to think about putting different wheels up front.
Of course you can't drive like your going thru a road course but as long as you drive "normal" there are no problems.
P.S. to be extra safe buy the tires that are the heavyier duty ones. the have a max pressure of 44-45 psi instead of 32-35 psi.

Thanks alot for the feedback, guys. I really like the look and functionality of skinnies, and once I get my rears on, I'll probably drive around like that all the time, considering I don't drive much.. thanks alot. Do most of you guys use 15x3.5, or 15x4? I was surprised when I put my 3.5's on that the car felt stock to me so long as your not like carving corners or something.. It sat a little lower to the ground, and the front lifted a little more on acceleration.. but other than that.
Peace,
Josh
