29's and bigger in here! Ok guys I've wondered this and havent truly found out yet. I was wondering if running a 29 or bigger tire is a minitub needed? This is assuming running on a stock rearend with stock backspacing (7.5) or maybe a 2 inch narrowed rearend with 5.5 inch backspacing. Anyone done it with the stock tubs? Anyone have pics of it? Thanx AGAIN! :bang: |
I run 29's , no mini tub needed. |

i guess the width is a big thing to look at. are you running 29.5" W tires like the biggest tire allowed for the LS1tech EFI Nationals? Or are you just wanting to run a regular 29x9" slick. |

Ed, you are talking true radial right? how much growth if anything do they have? anyone know how much growth a regular 30" slick would have? |

If you can hook your car on short tires, you don't need them. I couldn't. Good luck, Ed |
I ran 30x9 Goodyear radials, they were hit or miss.Didn't spend much time with them, hard to dial the car in on an inconsistant tire. Not much growth. |
Sean what are you running now? And what were you running with this time: Cam only/150 shot(stock long block) 9.643@138.39 (1.364) DA +1178 needing a larger tire since i'm tossing the 4.30's back in my car. |
I run a 29.5x10.5x15 but I am minitubbed because I wanted the tire to tuck in more, so I could lower the body to where I wanted it. Rear Narrowed 3" per side, Weld Alumastars 15x10 w/ 5" BS, MT 29.5x10.5x15 http://www.webpointusa.com/images/cu...lery/front.jpg http://www.webpointusa.com/images/cu...llery/back.jpg http://www.webpointusa.com/images/cu...initub%202.jpg http://www.webpointusa.com/images/cu...icomplete1.jpg |
Ya I plan to run around the 29.5x10.5's so as long as I should be fine with them then I guess I'll get to ordering. and big tires equals big gears and big RPM's. Plus the traction should be nice with big HP and TQ numbers  |
I run a 29.5x10.5x15 but it is a 12inch rim which in my opinion is the only way to go if your going really fast. The 12inch wheel gives you better traction and bigger foot print the whole way down the track. I have a billingsley fab 9" narrowed 3" on each side, and i run a 15x12x6" bs and it tucks great in the wheel well. |

Any wheel well "adjustments" for that? can you maybe send me some pictures of that? |
We definitely need some pics of a 12" rim on a 4th gen. don't think i've seen any but I know the Wolfe minitub kits were designed for that. atleast that's what i remember reading about. chris |
I ran and still run Hoosier 29x10's, they work really good for me. |
will a 28x12.5x16 et street work with out cutting up things? |
I run the 30x10.5 Hoosier on my car. Standard length rear with Bogart 15x10 Alumalites with a 7.5" back space, no mini tubbing. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...out9-17-05.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d158/hawkn01/lt11.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...n01/RAM014.jpg |
That car looks vaguely familar ;) |
man, i'd figure with the 30" tire and no minitub that you'd be having a wicked rake to the car, but it looks pretty damn good. any close up shots of the wheelwell mods at the front and back to make the tire fit? Chris |
