Not impressed with the MT DR's Maybe it's my way of launching and a combination of our shit track. The track was okay but I can't understand why they'd 'snap' for that second and I'd bog or spin. :bang: Best 60' @ 15 PSI 1.84 going out at 4K I spun the MT's on the rim left side a good 2 inches from the valve stem where I marked it for curiositys sake but never cut anything to write home about. I was just at the same track Sunday for Hot Rod Sunday and cut a 1.83 on my Nittos. I was hoping I'd see mid 1.7's considering our tracks prep is shitzo. Anyone have a suggestion? I've cut better 60's there on 15" Nittos 1.78-1.81 to be exact. :bang: |
dumping the clutch at 4 or slipping?do you have any suspension other than a 12 bolt?Bc on a lowered car I think the pinion angle gets whacky but I could be wrong? I know I had a bone stock motord full suspension a4 ls1 trans am going 1.71's with the MT drs |
what size MT's and try 19 psi.... i cut 1.53 on stock rims on the MT DR's (26'')

No radial tire is gonna accept the shock load of a 4000 rpm clutch dump, aint gonna happen, I dont know what you expected but you might wanna get some ET streets and try that again. David |

David In fact, there just happens to be a video of it in my signature :jest: I'm going to start slipping the hell out of the next time i go to the track, this may be the death of your z06 clutch if you try it though. I see you're lowered, do you have LCA relocation brackets? Maby you should look into some.... |

Maby you should look into some.... http://www.centralfloridastreetcars..../bmp/bmp17.wmv I do not have anything done to the suspension only lowered the car with springs. As for the 12 bolt, Driveshaft that's done too. I don't even have SFC's. My car is known to hook even when it spins it's hooking it's pretty bizarre. I just really thought these tires would be good for me. I may swap the BFG's I have here onto my Convo Pro's just to see maybe I don't need enough of a sticky tire for the way I am able to come out with my clutch. BTW, my stock Z06 clutch grabs like a mofo at 4900 tried that too and spun a 2.1 60' at that other track from my vid. :bang: :jest: |
I think IMO your not gunna get that much better until u swap torque arms..Although I do think that car should 60' easily in the 1.6's...try higher RPMs and slip the clutch..Dumping it the bog seemed to be because it didnt get enough RPM outta the hole..

Yes I was thinking the same thing. I know I got my Fiance a new one this year and now that his car is an Auto it's working pretty good. The guys said that last night I probably needed to come out higher with them. I bought these Convo Pros' on tires, so the tires are definately used and worn. That could have been a factor as well but I doubt it. FWIW, the cars suspension and mods as it is.......cut a 1.74 on Nitto's with my 10 bolt :eek2: and it can consistently cut 1.78's on them as well, I was hoping for similar 60's on this track that isn't as good as the one in my video. I guess I shouldn't have said I wasn't impressed with these, disappointed is more like it. |
With it being lowered you might try some LCA relocation brackets. That might help, buy if you are hooking and bogging, I think you need more motor. |
Claire, I've seen my buddy Jason's 95 LT1 go a 1.51 60 foot on a 275/60/15 M/T Drag Radial on a nitrous pass and 1.61 60 foot N/A. This is with adjustable shocks, stock torque arm and BMR lower control arms, and a TH350 trans with a 3400 stall 10" convertor. I've also seen posts about how stick cars may not work as well because of shocking the sidewall and they aren't meant for that. I'd try more air pressure, but the fact they are somewhat worn also makes for the argument that it could be the tires age and maybe not the tire brand itself. I hope you get them to work for you. I'm thinking about trying out a set on the Nova soon. Derek |
Hey Derek, seeing you know what I am talking about with MMP. Sunday for Hot Rod Sunday my best 60' on Nittos was 1.83 and a 1.86 which is 'okay' but isn't what I can do at BMP. So I decided to stick the MT's on for last night, they were off of Les' car last year so it wasn't a biggie or a waste of $ to be disappointed. I am probably going to go to the BFG's, seeing I feel they'd be a bit more forgiving as the Nitto's are yet a tad stickier. Funny though I did mark the sidewall for the heck of it and I again moved the left side so there is no doubt that the car hooks. Dave said the same thing, they didn't work well when he was an M6. I do well on the Nitto's if the track is hooking but this bogging is driving me nuts. It's like I don't have enough tire on a sticky track like BMP but too much of a tire is gonna make me come out over 5K and well..........not that my clutch doesn't work GREAT for stock, it's not the disc I worry about more like the rest of it. |
I dont have any problem but have A4. |

My esperience with the Mickey is they require a decent sized burnout. If you heat them up good they're a completely different tire. I wasn't all that happy with mine either until a friend said you need to do a John Force style burnout. I did and the summabitch hooked. I cut low 1.6Xs to high 1.5X short times on a 255R5016. |

Claire, They are undoubtedly the best DR tire on the market. I agree with Derek that you should have tried to up your psi. Before you give up on them go back and keep the launch at 4k and up the tire pressure 1/2 lbs each pass. You'll probably find they like more pressure. |
ohhh and this was on a 275/60/15 tire as well |
Maybe not a fair comparison since I'm a stalled A4. Dead hook consistently on mine (good track prep). Cut a couple 1.66 60ft times and a few 1.69's. This is on a 275/40/17 so it shows you they have potential. Best on Nitto DR's: 1.69 Best on MT DR's: 1.66 both at 22 psi (the way i drive on the street). |
MT DRs do not require a big burnout.... they are a very very soft tire... he shouldnt rely on big tires alone... get some chassis and supension mods... i cut 1.53 all day on my 255/50/16 with stock internals on stock rims @ 19.5 PSI... |
What he ^ said. First time out w/the 325/50/15's I broke an aftermarket TA and ripped the DS in half. They work. EDIT* Car does have adjustable suspension. |
