Default 1550CFM Accel TB users, have an air cleaner question?

Since this throttle body has no center section at all for the stud to mount in for the air cleaner, what kind of methods are you guys using to fasten air cleaners to this thing? I will be running and air cleaner so please don't try to convince me to run around with out one, lol. this is a street/strip car so it will see some good street time, hence the need for the air cleaner. Thanks.

Also, would like to use the k&n top and side filter element if possible. Any ideas are welcome

Just got off the phone with Accel, looks like I have to make a bridge that bolts to the two exterior bolt wholes and run the stud through it. That should be interesting, lol.

I know back in the day of my carb runnings you could find an offset Air Cleaner bolt. I would imagine you could easily make one, all it is, is a threaded rod bent into a 'Z' basically. However a bridge would work just as well. Please post pics when your finished, I am wanting to do the Vic Jr and TB ontop.

Thanks guys. I'll post some pics when finished, hopefully in a few weeks.

What air cleaner are you using? I would really like to be able to make one of these TBs work, but the air cleaner is a must-have item.

I'm going to try to use the 11" diameter short as possible K&N filter with the element in the diameter and top. Problem is this sb2.2 intake is huge (way bigger then a edelbrock or gmpp) and I just don't know where it's going to place the filter. I've got a 4" hood and have cut my cowl already, but it still may not be enough. When I get the motor i'll know for sure when mocking things up.

So you are going to place the air cleaner above the cowl? What about your wipers? Are you able to retain those? I would really like to see some pics so I could see how you are doing all of this.

Yeah, I'm thinking the air cleaner should be above the cowl once i'm finished. Windshield wipers? Ha, those were removed a while ago. I could actually keep the driver side one but the passenger side whiper had to be removed. Actually, you'd be suprised to see how much they weigh with that heavy motor for them. Just a guess but it's gotta be about 15 lbs all together.

I'll get some pics once everything is in place and during the placement of these items.

I haven't put my motor in yet, but I am definately gonna be running some sort of filter for street use. I will more than likely fab up a little bracket to make a bridge like you were talking about. That should be easy enough and seems like it would work quite well. I'm gonna cut the hell out of my cowl and delete the wipers and plastic piece all together.

I'm running the GMPP with the Accel tb as well as a 1in spacer and a nitrous plate. So my setup is rather tall. lol
