Launching an M6 with DR's??

I feel stupid even asking this, but what RPM would yall recommend for a basically stock LS1, T56 on BFG 16in DR's? Im thinkin 2500-3000k. Any advise would be appreciated.

You will need to experiment with engine speed, tire pressure, and throttle and clutch technique.

i would say prolly a little higher as i come out of the whole at 2600+ with my POS kuhmos... im sure alot depends on track prep also

are you on stock clutch and rear? do you have headers?

on stock clutch w/ stock manifolds go from 3500 and slip the clutch, dont dump it or youll break the rear.

on stock clutch w/ headers, slip the clutch from 4500 and go.

hope that helps

Why slip it on higher RPM with headers ? :emb:

Demonicbird00 Jul 18, 2006 03:38 PM

cause you have the better flowing exhaust to launch from your powerband. w/ teh stock manifolds youll more than likely bog.

I have a ram vds clutch and hooker LT's. I have 18x10 TTII's so is 3500 a good launch?

02SOMWS6 Jul 18, 2006 09:02 PM

If your serious about running your car at the track I would start saving for a rear or don't get too greedy at the track and launch the car on the soft side. I snapped a axel on my stock rear with 4.10 gears with just bolt-on's with less than 1,500 miles on the car. The stock rear with a m6 and a sticky tire can be broke pretty easy if your not carefull

yeah if your on street tires.

as long as he slips the clutch out and works the launches that way he'll be fine

On some street tires. Yokohama AVS Sports. About to start some more modifications

Demonicbird00 Jul 20, 2006 09:51 PM

yeah start from 3500 if you bog, go higher on the next run. if you spin go lower, or just dont stomp on it right away.

Newcomers are allowed one free absurd question - you've had yours.

arron.....i had your setup minus the cam and was going from 4500 on my stock internal car. on stock clutch you have to slip it. cause the stockers cant handle dumps.

But at the same time slipping the stock clutch will hurt it just as fast, you are causing a lot of heat when you are slipping the clutch. My stock clutch last about 6 track passes of 1.8 60fts with stock internals and then it was shot. Also make sure it does not dead hook from 4500 otherwise say bye bye to your 10bolt.

Demonicbird00 Jul 25, 2006 08:42 PM

well slip it as fast as posible, my stock clutch lasted 80k and over 60 passes
hit a 11.998 w/ it and multiple 1.7s
