Default can i go 130+ w/ 28" and 4.30s?

without having to shift to 5th in the 1/4? I want to be able to trap in the 130s without running out of gear in 4th gear in my T56, 4.30 geared car. Can i do it on a 28" mt et drag with a 7100rpm limiter??

f-body.org/gears this calculator says i can, but alot of people i have talked to say it wont work at the track.

Which is it?

Thanks guys

I trapped 129 with 4.30's and 28" tires on spray. I just got the car retuned and picked up 22 rwhp and 33 rwtq NA and I picked up a ton on tune for the spray so I should trap over 130mph next outing. You will be fine with the 4.30 gears. You will have plenty of gear left NA and you will not have to shift to 5th with NOS. The 4.30's worked out great for me

I plan to do it. I went 134 with 4.56's and MT 28" ET Drags. I was banging my rev limiter at the end (forget where it was, somewhere around 7200-7300 I think). I dropped the gears down to 4.30's, have yet to run 'em tho.

I think if you take into account .5" for tire growth on the ET Drags, you'll be ok. It'll end up being RIGHT there in my opinion. I think 132-135 might be around the limit(after looking at the calculator) It says 140 mph at 7100 with a 28.6" tire with 4.30's and a 1:1 ratio in 4th gear. I didn't input anything else for 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear

By my calculator, you should be able to do 135 MPH.

Depends on the slip of the torque converter as to where your RPMs end up at. Until you know your actual real slip of your converter, calculators will be wrong. It could be anywhere from 200 to 1000+ RPMs. I'd say that odds are good that you won't get much over 130 with that combo tho, assuming ~7200 limiter.

FYI: Jen ran 136 MPH with a TH400 (90% efficiency), 4.33 on 29.5" tires with the rpms at 7300 rpms through the traps. If she did it with an auto, you can as well. Just remember, slicks will grow on the top end so those calculators are not that precise.

7100RPM with a 28" tire, according to a gear/mph calculator you should see 138MPH

Using the same calculator you did. I have used it in the past, and it has worked out in the past for me to be prety accurate.
