Higher trap speeds w/ more tq or hp?

Default Higher trap speeds w/ more tq or hp?

I have a H/c car making 430rwhp 388rwtq. I trap 117 mph... i see other h/c cars trappin in the 120-125 range. Most of these cars are have more tq then me. Is the more tq you make make your trap higher? The reason i ask this question is i might chage my cam over the winter if i can get some better tq out of a dif. cam Thanks for the help guys

i always thought that tq=e.t. and hp=trap speed.

MPH=HP, Torque = E.T. But you have to look at the whole combo, gearing, tire size, avg torque and HP peak torque and HP. There's more to it than I feel like writing right now, but MPH's= HP.

I was taught HP is MPH traction/60' time is ET never heard anything about TQ.

Many factors obviously change both, weight, tire width, 4 link, stock ect.
But MPH is 99% more consistant than ET.

I would love a test with same HP and different TQ, to see what would happen.

I have seen plenty of cars with better ET than my '70 1/2 and slower MPH. They all had better 60' than me. After talking to them, they had less HP or weighed less than me, but their car hooked better. Is your ET better or worse??

Damn I type too slow.

well i went 12.2@ 117 on a 1.9 60' i sprayed my 75 shot and went 11.8@ 121. i made 498 rwhp and 488 rwtq on the n20. I dotn no i was hopeing for alot better et. i no i will get alittle better maybe 11.50's? i was hopein for 10's on the 125-150 shot. It is a full weight car adn can use i diet And not much done in the way of suspension

Are those dyno numbers through the 9" ?
Why are you only spraying a 75 shot?
A lot has to do with your 60' times. That's what you need to work on.

There will always be confusion about the relationship between torque (twisting force) and power (the rate of doing work) because a clear understanding of the concepts requires some math and physics. If you wish for acceleration and the genie gives you a choice between horsepower and torque, don’t be a chump - take the power.

only a 75 shot bc i am scared haha no they are actually 125 jets but there only makin 70 rwhp. i need to take soem fule out and get a wide band. When i was at my tuner thats the only jet i had And les thats threw a 9in. i can use a TA and soem lighter wheels with soem slicks i just dotn liek my trap i wish it was alittle higher
