Best Price on a Manual Rack?

Have done some research and did a "Search" in this forum and could not find the answer.

Have found the Madman rack for $650 at one site sponsor, but when I asked around a fellow racer told me he got his for $575 or $590, but couldn't remember where he ordered it from (!). He's not a flake, just did a whole hell of a lot of mods on his car in the last few months and the details are jumbled. Could have been from the same place, just during a sale.

Anyone know who has the best price on a good manual rack for a 4th gen F-body?

TIA,
Todd

Get it through Thunder Racing and order it on line and you'll get the on-line discount. The customer support is worth it's weight in gold IMO.

Good luck!

I had a hell of a time with the flaming river rack, The tie rod is universal so u have to get a sleeve made and weld it to the tie rod and the u joint that bmr sent me was wrong got a new one that was wrong so finally had to call up flaming river and order a u joint to fit. Go with the madman rack and save the headake

If you have a kmember setup for a pinto manual rack you can just piece the steering setup together yourself. AJE and Madman sells the tie-rod end kit for like $125-$150, Summit sells the Flaming River pinto manual rack for $235 or so, and you can get the steering shaft pieces from Madman for like $140 or so. You will need the clamp for the rack to mount to the kmember and its like $60 bucks from chassis engineering. BUT, thats only if you have the kmember that is setup for a pinto style manual rack. If you have a stock style kmember then you will have to get the Madman setup or something from Billingsley or BMR.

Guys, thanks for all the replies. Some good info in here and I appreciate it.

I have a Pro-Fab K-member on that car and it's set up for the factory-type steering.

I'm going to need the whole kit it seems.

I ahve the Flaming River kit from BMR. Got it for under $400 if I remember. It has the tie rod end so its pretty much a complete kit. I havnt installed it on the car yet but it looks like a quality peice.

Be sure you check your bumpsteer after your install.

I bought the Kmember specially made for the Manual rack. Hopefully there will not be any issues. Thanks for the heads up.

If the rack kit didnt come with a bumpsteer kit then you will have problems.

I'm all for saving a few bucks like the next guy, but you will find yourself running into issues and running all over town or waiting on the components if you got the right ones that it's just not worth the hassles IMO.

Do yourself a favor and get the MadMan kit and do it right the 1st time.

Good luck!
