Default I can't break a 13.00 WTF!

I went to the track last night..air was 65 degrees..it was crisp and not a single person was hooking...even the dragsters were letting off half way..our track is like a skating rink soo...

Anyway..

my first times with just LT's/TD's and CAI was 13.5 105 MPH about 3 months ago....

I now have CAI, LT's/TD's, Underdrive pulley, MSD 8.5's/NKG's, 4.10 gears, nitto drag radials, LCA's, SFC's and a tune that netted me 350 RWHP and 344 RWTQ......

My best run last night was a 13.4 @ 111 MPH.

I left from a 2k dump and spun a bit then took off(it sounded like my stock cluth was slipping badly though)...my 60 foot was a 2.4.
The only thing that I liked was that I picked up about 5-6 MPH and went through the traps at 111 mph.

My question is, if I could hook a little better would i get close to a 12, or do I need to improve my skills as the driver? Or, is a 13.4 about right for my mods (considering it is a street car and no a drag car persay)
Thanks
Erik

You should be running in the 12's with that setup. If you could drop your 60' to 2.0 or so...which is average for (maybe below average for your setup) you should be well into the 12's. You could probably run a 12.6 or so with that mph....with better traction and driving of course. Just keep woking on it, it will come!!

thanks Mike, thats all I needed to know...i admit i am a novice racer..but with time i think i can improve...

i just wanted to know if my current goals were realistic...since they are..then i'll work on that driver mod!

BTW way, I was at Moroso...brutal..not a single person hooked...some guy was getting his liscense in a dragster..and had to let off like 5 times...at least we know he can let off at the right time..****

very interesing....

I see you've got a spec...and less mods overall than I do...

This leads me to believe that its a lack of power getting to the wheels quickly...

Also, I saw you run MT's....I like what i hear about those tires...I just thought they would be a little much for my stock 10 bolt with 4.10s...so i opted for nittos, they give a lil if you know what I mean...

What do you think?

EDIT: I just saw your SAE #'s...is your car a factory freak, those numbers are great considering your mods...arent they??

Wheel hop kills rears. Get yourself a good clutch and a good set of tires. I use to run high 11's with a 10 bolt and 4.10 gears leaving at 4000 rpm's. You just can't side step the clutch. slip it real fast and you will see some killer 60's and some mid to low 12 second passes.

I see,

I dont get wheel hop at all, i have aftermarket LCA and relo brackets...the wheels plant, they just spin...i think i had to much air in them anyway...19lbs..i should have dropped it to like 15 in that cold air...and slipped the clutch a bit more....i guess practice makes perfect

I see that you are running Nitto DRs.. You have to get a Nitto really HOT before they will work.

as for u trapping 111mph that is the expected mph range with 4.10s, with a 2.3+ 60` ,u will never get in 12s, looks like everyone was spinning that day so dont judge ur car in these bad conditions.

as for me runnin M/Ts , i posted this a while ago https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ighlight=M%2FT

however, I just realized that i had susp. problems its not the M/Ts that were holding me back.

as for my numbers no body mention it is a factory freak before but i think ther r really strong numbers, a freind of mine did a good job tuning it.

60 ft helps a lot, my clutch use to slip badin first and i could only cut 2.1-2.2 60fts. and ran 13.2 after a new clutch, i pulled the 60ft down to 1.9-low 2.0s and did 12.82 at the same trap speed

erskine is right, in a 6 speed car, you need to ride the clutch out so the tires hook, there isnt any sidewall give to a nitto so they will more than likely spin if you dump it, i found that out the hard way. since we dont have a converter that would slip for us like in an auto (bastards have it easier) we must feather the clutch. dont do it to fast where it bogs or spins, but dont do it to slow where its making all this noise and not going anywhere, just have to find the happy median.

im an idiot though, so listen to the more knowledgeable people here, because im just stating what i thought was correct. so if im wrong, dont be afraid to call me a jackass or something cool like that

I was out at Moroso Wednesday nite as well. Ran my best 60' and ET ever. Car was hooked up all the way down the track...launched strong and stayed hooked up on every shift. I was on a brand new set of MT drag radials. Get rid of those Nittos.

If you would have read the previous posts someone had mentioned get a good rearend and a tire on the car then dump it at 5k. I then said after that put it to the limiter and dump it.
