Should I go to a glide?

I now have a th400 and my car with a glide and all my nitrous stuff would weigh about 3150. I bought a th400 with no brake and I think I need a brake now. I will be spraying a 200-350 shot soon. Here are the only passes I have put on this car https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-results/603499-10-26-first-time-out.html
I think it would be a good choice but wanted other opinions.

Are you asking if you should get a powerglide instead of your th400?

And would recommend a transbrake for that kind of hit of juice.

Why would I need a brake to spray alot?

revtime 11-05-2006 11:33 PM

You wouldn't NEED one but with your setup your leaving alot on the table without a Tbrake.
If you don't plan on running the car on the street very much then a PG would be a good choice.
I was the big ugly guy in the Jegs cap that was asking about your tires and such at the shootout. :)

Nice looking car... it's the red version of my Formula :)

I went with a glide and am VERY happy with the results! Do a search on my username and you will see several posts about my experience... the fact that your car is so light will make the glide perform even better... my car is about 150lbs heavier than yours and the glide still worked like a champ on the motor and on the spray... even with a 1.76 1st and 3.73 gears...

Then thing I like about glides is the abundance of high performance parts to be found for them since they're such a hit with us bracket racers. Then you have the weight savings to help out.

I see your 60 ft. bothers you... Just get a glide with a 1.96 first and your new complaint will be you can't keep the car off the bumper haha.

i wouldnt mess with a 2 speed unless you are making so much power you need that soft low gear. 3 speeds are great for a 9 to high 8 second car. teh th400 is just so much more forgiving with the converter. plus they are great on the street.

raceme9s 11-06-2006 01:19 PM

I would go with the glide... we had the th400 in it untill it broke and went to a glide with 180 gears and it helped are 60 ft get better from a 1.35 to 1.28.
and the glides are very easy to work on....

vmax1500 I went though all your post which was some good info. I was hoping to hear from somemore people that went th400 to a glide.

It should be with a 250-300HP shot... I went from 10.1@134 to 9.2@148 with a 200HP shot in my ring kit... I assume you have a direct port, so it should hit even harder... the key is getting the right converter setup!

ls1408cp 11-06-2006 02:48 PM

no I have a plate on my victor jr. They say its good 100-500hp

The wiring is not done in that pic so no bad replys

ls1408cp 11-07-2006 02:10 AM

I was hoping for more replys but o well. I am going to a glide. So if the glide has a turbo spline input shaft I can use my same converter?
