Question M6 guys: How do you tell when your ET is on-target for your MPH?

Well, it's been 3 years since I've been to the track. The last time I took my heads/cam LT1 to US 41 in August of '04, my driving technique was complete crap.. 12.9 @ 111 with a 1.9 60'.

I've gotten a lot better over the years, and now that I'm outta school and have a daily driver I can afford to take the car to the strip again.

The thing I'm wondering is, how do you gauge when your MPH and ET line up well? For example, I've seen plenty of guys in the 110-112 mph range running mid-low 12's. Does anybody have tips on how to tell when you're driving the car to its full potential?

Thanks!!

You just have to look at the setup, weight, 60', ET, and MPH and you can get a decent indication of whether the setup is reaching its potential or not.

Post up your timeslip and the other criteria I listed and we can give you a good idea. There isnt a plug and play formula for it.

I'll have to dig it up. The run was complete crap because I couldn't grab 3rd gear quickly to save my life. I have the slip at home somewhere... I'll scan it in tonight maybe.

When I ran 12.85 I was at 111.22mph wirh a 2.0 60'

I usualy look at others who have similar times/ETs and match up accordingly. Its all comparison, I don't think there is a scientific way to determine what MPH should go with which ET. Its mostly experience.

My best run so far with LT's, pulley, lid, exhaust was a 12.71@111 with a 2.0 60' on 17" nittos.

I compare to other cars around my hp, 60', and weight and see what they got out of their mph. Just go look at the LS1tech timeslpis, and look at what people ran with your mph on a good 60'. I still dont understand how I only ran a 12.4 with a 1.8 60' trapping 114.5.

Hmm...
(3250 lbs w 1/4 tank in 2004) + (my 160 lb keister) = 3410 raceweight

366 rwhp...

12.257 @ 111.2

So there's quite a bit of room for improvement.

this site doesn't make sense. for me to run a 117 mph trap like I did back in the fall.

I dynoed 408 RWHP with a 117mph trap = 3250 race weight? Uhhh my car doesn't have any weight reduction in it and I am at a healthy 265lbs.

for my car (should weigh around 3800 lbs with me in it) would need 450RWHP to trap 117 with a ET of 11.60. This doesn't add up at all.
