i would go with a s10 or something you could stuff a v8 into for almost nothing. maybe a fox body notch or fairmont. a low compresion junkyard sbc or maybe a 5.3 and a jy holset turbo setup and keep pooring the **** to it until it runs what you wants or pops!!!!!!

as soon as i get my car finished up i am wanting to build something like this too.....i have been seeing alot of people on the web building SUPER BUDGET cars just to play with. looks kind of fun to me.

check this thread out, this is what im talking about, i bet this guy doesnt have 2000 dollars in his setup. http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...?topic=82301.0

I started this thread because of what I was reading on the Grassroots motorsports webpage. The event is you building a $2007 car and competing with it. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/new...007-challenge/

Im not saying i would go the 2k route, i was merely trying to get everybody thinking and creating recipies for a quick , yet cheap car.
Now that thats out of the way, $2,000 does seem a bit low....how's $4,000 sound without safety equipment. Now the possibilities should really open up.

Nope, loose verters flash higher on the juice and have higher shift extensions. Unless the motor can rev past 7k on the juice and stay together, then no point. You want a tight stall. 3500-4000 with STR about 2.1.

Rent a car from any of the big car rental places..... Try and get sumthin with a V8......

Strip everything except the drivers seat out of it. Attach huge nitrous bottle to floor, mount borrowed wheels and slicks, run no air cleaner or plastic intake. Put the biggest jets in your kit (hopefully about a 300hit) into the plate or nozzle system. Put the highest octane race gas you can run in it.

Take it to the track, juice the crap out of it and hope for the best..... It'll probably go 10.9 once.....

Then report it stolen to Rental place.....

I figure 50 bucks for the rental car, 500 for the nitrous system and pills, you can borrow wheels and tires from anyone that'll fit, and a full tank of 116 octane will run you about 100 bucks or so..... Hell you've still got 1350 bucks left over for the tow truck, the tow truck driver to keep his mouth shut, and dinner afterwards to laugh about blowing up a brand new Enterprise or Avis mustang/dodge/chevy....

my friends did something somewhat similar. they took a mercury grand marquis, put nitrous on it, tuned it, then ran it at the drag strip. afterwards they returned it to stock and it went back to the rentals.

http://www.sloppymechanics.com/archi...1-30-2006.html

go there, scroll all the way to the bottom, then start scrolling back up to see their pics/video/info. it was hilarious.

I know this is an LS1 site but I think you best bet is a 87-91 foxbody. They came stock w/ forged pistons. Gut the crap out of it (2500-2600lbs), Slicks, gears, 200 shot and you've got a shot. Don't count on making multiple passes though cause I'm sure the drivetrain may break on the initial pass.

I was thinking foxbody as well, they are light and more or less cheap of a car.

1000 for nitrous stuff and save the rest to rebuild the car after you blow it..

I think you could get the job done for about 1,000. That would be cost of paying someone to take an existing vehicle that already runs your target et.
