Default Whats it take to run 9.99 NA?

I ran 10.82 stock shortblock with mild heads/cam.

At 3200 raceweight & all bolt ons, a TH350/400, 12 bolt w/4.30's what will it take for 9.99? The car will have 1 7/8 long tubes, race waterpump, etc. etc.

I'm shopping for a shortblock/longblock. I don't want to spend anymore than I need to get there. But won't build a cheap shortblock either.

What will it take to get there?
1) LS2 402/408 AFR/TFS 225 90/90 Combo
2) LS2 402/408 L92/L76 Combo
3) LS7 427 Topend?
4) LSX 454 LS7 Topend?

to get from 10.82 @ 3200# to 9.99 @ 3200# is about 135 more HP or a motor making 635+ bhp...

CARTEK made a 441CID Corvette do it 3 years ago or so with just over 550 RW-HP...

built 4L60E, 26" ET Streets, not sure on the gearing, roughly the same race weight.

So it is POSSIBLE to do without the LS7/LSx big motors? Just cathedral port heads & 90/90 combo?

Magnus went 9.9 with H/C, A3, 4.10, 28W, and like a 2800 raceweight. Car made like 4__rwhp on a dynojet.

Im hoping to do it with my car. maybe faster.
i went 10.4 first passes on my new motor. never saw a dyno. i fired it up friday night, and went racing saturday.

im going solid roller and im hoping to go in the 9's next time out.
then i will spray it.

lsx block, 427, 14-1 compression, afr heads 3300 pounds
wrong gears and a glide. a gear and tuning would probably put it in the 9's as is, but i want more

I'd think with the beastly motor that Noyzee is building, he'd be shooting for low 9's or better on motor.

Two Questions?

What is your 60' time?

What changes have you done to your suspension?

I think a really solid 60 foot time is key when it comes to running 9's NA... I was hoping to see that last year with my hydraulic cam ETP LS7 427... I ended up with a 10.1 @ 134 with a 1.5 sixty... I think the motor had the power to run 9's but I had a switch to a glide with 3.73's and a nitrous converter... in other words, in order to get the best NA results you need a setup that is optimized to run NA...

That helps. You definately have 9's in it with a good NA converter.

I guess the real question is will a real solid 402 with TFS heads and a 90/90 have a chance at making it or will I need a bigger LS7 headed 427 or LSX motor to do it?

a 402 will do it , make sure you nail the 60 ft and the rest is gravy
think some thing like a 5k foot brake stall too.

Weight plays as much of a role as horsepower... I believe a 402 that makes 525RWHP and a 3300lbs race weight combined with a TH400, 4.10's and an agressive converter would see 9.9's in decent air...
