How many G's pulled at launch?

how many g's do our cars pull when, say, its cutting a 1.3 60' time? Just curious if any of you know, or have a calculator.

My first 1.4x 60' time felt crazy :eek2:

Estimation based upon simple physics:
a = twice the distance divided by time squared.
a = 2*60/(1.3*1.3) = 120/1.69 = 71 ft/sec/sec
Since g = 32ft/sec/sec, a 1.3 second 60ft requires average acceleration of 71/32 = 2.2 g

physics made fun brought to you by local LS1TECH guys...... i think i juts learned more in that one post than one semester of physics.

It's all a sensation, I wish it wouldn't fade but it does. 1.30's are dull for me after last fall when I was clicking off 1.2's and this spring when I was putting it near the bumper and having 1.29's... The weather has slowed to car down now and the launches are boring but it's all in what you're used to. There are tons of guys out there that would climb in my car and think it was boring on a fast day.

thanks alot Gary Z! so it looks like my 1.51 60' was 1.64 g and my 1.47 was 1.73 g

damn, those still felt nuts to me :jest:

You're welcome. The simple formula above is only an approximation because it assumes constant acceleration. It would be interesting to compare this calculation to G-Tech measurements. My guess is that a G-Tech will show that acceleration varies quite a bit during launch.

first time i sprayed my car i went from a 1.55 to a 1.36. i was completely disoriented until the wheels came back down. im glad the car went straight! lol
not too long ago i thought a 1.55 60' felt like i was being kicked in the back. a 1.32 is way more hardcore than that. :thumb:
