Mojave heater... Silverghost? Hey Sean, my reccollection is that you are running this heater setup. How is it working, it's been a few years right? |
I hope you dont mind my input as I recently installed a Mojave. I'll say here in NY the weather is getting pretty cold and this heater supplies PLENTY of heat. I installed it while the dash was out and set it right under the deck's defroster grill. I was even able to hook the low/med/high functions to the stock controls. Here are some pics below http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...T/IMG_4246.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...T/IMG_4245.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...T/IMG_4248.jpg As you can see I also did a battery relocation. It worked out great here are some shots from the engine compartment. I spray painted the firewall panel Hugger Orange and it looks clean neat. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...T/IMG_4244.jpg Here is the interior mostly back together the car weighed in at 2800 lbs on the button (2990 with me in it). http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...T/IMG_4249.jpg |
My installation was very similar to the above, except I used bulkhead fittings to run the hoses from the water pump through the block off plate. We also wired mine to my factory controls, but just the high setting, I don't think the low and medium are useful. its a small heater and if its cold enough to need it you're gonna be using it on high. Mounting it under the main vent in the middle of the dash is the way to go, it'll defrost and heat. i put mine in 4 years ago and haven't had to touch it once since. has kept the car warm when i had it out of the garage in as cold as high 20 degree air and you'd never know its there with it being wired to the factory knobs. |
Got a link to where we can buy one? How much does it weigh? |

Thanks guys, I will order one. |
|
That's the one. |
so the space behind the dash where this is mounted.. what used to be there that was removed/modified to make it fit sounds pretty good i assum that is much lighter than the factory box assembly |
The factory plastic tubing that runs to all the air vents/defrost is really the only thing that was right where he has it mounted. You can always pull out all the ac parts to save weight and use the factory box. With the ac parts out, you can modify the stock box also to remove alot of its size and open up room in the engine bay also. |
The real problem I have is room to work on my motor. I dont really care about the weight, 10lbs more or less isnt much when your 3700+ to start. With my ET heads being taller its hard to get to the back 2 plugs on the passenger side with the HVAC box in the way. |

Thats what I did with mine since weight wasn't a major concern either. My car is extremely heavy also. I now have almost as much room in the engine bay as you would w/o the box in there at all. BTW... i'm probably selling my modified ac box if anyone is interested. I used thin alum. on my first one I did and now I want to redo another with cf just for the look in the engine bay. PM me if your interested. |
