Default Disable the converter lock-up

GM High-Tech Performance
The Final Countdown

“As for the second area of opportunity, eliminating converter lock-up… TGOW launches hard and rockets though First and Second gear, but noses over dramatically midway through Third with lockup, dumping about 300 rpm in the process… This explains the weak trap speed relative to ET and could possibly account for a tenth or more in lost ET. It’s nothing $10 and a trip to Radio Shack can’t cure, namely an inline switch to disable the converter lock-up, and a 15-ohm resister to trick the computer into thinking the solenoid is engaged.”

Does anyone know how to do this? I am pretty sure I am having the same problem.

I doubt you're seeing the same thing, as the LS1 isn't programmed to lock the converter @ WOT... Neither should GMHTP's LT1 project car, but they could have a problem somewhere...

But what you lose in RPM, you should more than make up for by eliminating the converter slippage, shouldn't you?

I know that I've done back-to-back runs with the TC set to:
1) lock right after I go into 3rd gear, and
2) not lock at all,
and I've been quicker (ET) and faster (trap speed) with the TC locked once I hit third.

Maybe I'm doing something else wrong though...
