Default Guys With Bogarts - In Here Please!

I'm picking up a used set the end of this week and need some info on shank style lugs?

I'm getting the D-10's and need to know. The guy I'm buying them from is telling me to get McGard 62002's (which are .946 shank length) The guys at Bogart tell me to just use the S/ST Mags (which are 1.375 shank length).

I'm sooo confused! Help!!

I'm running the ST style (1.375" shank) with my Fluted Drag Stars. No problems at all here, they snug up nicely. The more thread the better.

So the 1.375's are not too long? Meaning they don't extend past the back face of the rim? What lugs and washers are you using?

Just looked at your website, you needed to run spacers all the way around??

Thanks so much!

I took the spacers off the rear. There isn't a problem there like I thought (I made that page last October, have a couple thousand miles behind me now on them). I have to run spacers on the front, but it might be my newer pads / rotors up there that are causing the interference. I got lazy and didn't want to grind anything, so I just threw on spacers, tightened the lugs, and there they go. But the wheels would definitely not clear without something (grinding or spacers) up front. Got scratches on the inside of the wheels to prove it.

Again, no problem with the 1.375" lugs. I don't remember what brand I'm running, whatever Pep Boys had in stock. They came with washers, so I'm running whatever they came with.

I've got another pair of rear rims for my 28" ET drags, no problem with those either (no spacers).

the longer ones are what i have, but you will need a smaller washer in the front that comes with the mcgards.

The 1.375 one were too long for me. I had to cut about .150 off of them on the lathe.

Was that too long for you including the washer?

Seems weird that Bogart would not have made their wheels to take a standard size lug.

I commented in the your other post regarding your question. Even with the washers, the longer lugs are going to be too long. They would be turned down some if you purchased them from Bogart.

For the guys running them not turned down, I would highly recommend trimming them or grinding them down some so that the rim is firmly attached to the rotor. Aluminum will shrink/expand under varying temperatures as well as the washers can compress over time which can lead to improperly fastened wheels.

Regarding a "standard"...Bogart designs custom rims...keep that in mind. The lugs needed for LT1 cars are different then the LS1 guys...etc etc.

So I can purchase these "modified" lugs for LS1's directly from Bogart? I wish they would have mentioned that!

I used the McGard 62002's with no problems. Many hard launches later, with bent wheel studs on each axle, I'm using Bogart 1/2 wheel lugs. Get whatever is cheapest, because if you launch hard enough your going to have to change to 1/2 studs anyway.
