452 RWHP From a Heads & Cam LT1
The subject says it all. My friend has a 97 T/A vert with a stock bottom end. Last year he installed AFR 195cc LT4 comp ported heads and intake with a cc306. He has LTs with full bolt ons to boot. The combo didn't produce the power that was expected! I put about 3 or 4 cars on him from 40 to 100! My car is in the sig and his is a 6 speed.
After my car turned out the way that id did, he decided to make some changes. Eric Bradby reported the heads, so much for thier comp port job;( and Joe Overton ground him a custom cam. What a difference! We raced again with quite a different outcome.
He put it on the dyno a couple of days ago and put down 419 with the first buzz. With Joe tuning over the phone they got the car to 452 at around 6300rpms with 398rwtq almost completely flat across the board. This is no sollid roller either.
Congrats to Gary and a huge thanks to Joe and Eric who are breaking new ground with the LT1. Be prepared guys, things are just getting started.

I know Rick, I thought that my heads were nice, but his are unreal! They were almost 30 cfm off of what AFR claimed. Eric also ports Joe's heads so I think he's got the hang of it. I think those guys from the stix might know a little something.

I belive it. I laid down 411 rwhp / 370 tq on a stock bottom end LT1 w/ ~90k mi w/ heads, cam, shorty headers on crappy California 91 octane pump gas. We think think there's still some room to go in the tune, definintely not in the 452 rwhp range proably onthe order of 10 - 15 rwhp and 15'ish ft lbs. Dyno sheet is at http://para.noid.org/94z/?mode=view&...00&start=0
Congrats to him, those are some pretty damn impressive numbers!
