Minimum Clearance Between Tire and Fenders? I just finished stuffing a set of 315/60R15's under my car. It is a 98 Trans Am that has minitubs and I have already trimmed the front and rear of the fenders. I have also rolled the fenders. I am running the 150 spring rate 2.5" springs with QA1's. What type of clearance should I keep in order to maintain streetability? Also, what is the best way to enclose the body in front of the tires after trimming? Would rather not weld right now because of the paint work involved. |
For track use I will do as low as 1/2". For street use you need at least 1" |

I have 16.5" of space, I set mine up to have 1" outside and 1" inside. So for my setup my max tire size would be a 14.5" section with a tire that is centered. +1 with madman to make it short. You can go less but when you do and if you ever get tire shake you could scuff the tire and cut it :( |
Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I will probably keep it at 1" to keep it safe till I get completely serious. |
