Default Need help concerning lightweight batteries.

I have a 2002 Camaro Z28, M6... Its a Daily Driver, but sees the drastrip as well a strack meets regularly.

I have a 25% underdrive pulley, a mid/large cam and boltons. approx 435 - 450rwhp or so...

Im looking at the companies. http://www.brailleauto.com/
and www.odysseyfactory.com

I have posted in this thread, but havent gotten enough help to come to a decision.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/830723-lightweight-batteries.html

I need to know the OEM specs on the LS1 camaros for what CA, CCA and Reserve capacty the battery has. More or less I know the CA and CCA from Autozone, but I havent been able to get the Reserve capacity #s. and I need to know how important the Reserve capacity is for a DD..

For example , I like the weight savings on the Odyssey PC680, but the reserve capacity seems way too low. So I was thinking of going with the PC925.

I mean for a DD, would the PC680 be enough? It will be driven everyday and maybe 1 or 2 days MAX out of the week may sit , not being driven. Will the battery drain out based on the reserve life? who has experience running these batteries in a DD.

what do you think.

My main goal is saving weight. I dont mind spending almost 200 bucks for these batteries, because Im saving 20-25lbs and thats worth it, especially after buying a K member for near 500 and that only saved me 25lbs..

What do ya'll think?

Thanks in advance.

I have a kinetik HC600 on the camaro, which would be the same as the small oddy one..

it was garaged for good 5 months and it fired right up. now it has been sitting for 2 months and we used the batt to crank up a duramax, it worked..

The PC680 works very well, even for a dd situation. just dont run accessories with the ignition off. they arent kidding about that low reserve capacity. dont ask me how I know lol

To be honest your best bet is to get the PC680 for the track only and use a regular battery for the streets. The reserve on it isn't that much. I can run my electric water pump for about 3 mins. After that I need a jump to start the car to get to the staging lanes. -Mark

I dont do that, thats what I should have told other people in the previous thread.

But just for kicks, like a few minutes of running the radio will drain the battery? or loke over 10 - 15 min? or what?

Honestly, sir. That is very inconvenient for me. to be swapping batteries all the time.

I understand its very low, thats why Ill only run the radio while im driving. and I dont have an electric waterpump... yet.

So then the PC925 may be a better overral choice? Even though IMO its too heavy? Or maybe there is one between the 680 and 925... Ill check.

I had a bolt vibrate loose on my window motor so the window fell down. I had the key on and was moving the window up and down ( like 4-5 times total) to realign the bolt hole. battery went dead in 20 min.

I have a PC680. Good battery for being so small but if I were to buy again, I would get a Deka ETX14. Braile makes a "racing" battery that is rebranded from this company. Go google it, lots of imports use it.

Just a few I found in searching. You should be able to find plenty more with a bit more time. Looks like ~400CCA and good storage. Even weighs less than a PC680 for $30 bucks less.

I know a guy that daily drives his automatic bolt on ss with a pc680 in it. No problems. I will see if I can find out who his name is on here.

For more info, PM LS1408cp. He has been trying to get me to put on in my car I just haven't bought it yet.

I'm guessing you didn't read any of the links I posted. Braille is the rebranded DEKA battery. Go look up DEKA ETX14 - ETX20. They are the same batteries as Braille. Same manufacturer, same specs, same everything except for the price.

Braille = $1-200 for a sticker.
DEKA = $60-100 without the "racing battery" claims and stickers.

Sticker I saw on the posted link says CCA 200, not 1300.

What I was able to see looked like the ETX-20 was only 270 CCA.

So which one is this low priced 1300 CCA model?

This is what i found on this one:

B3121 Carbon Fiber Battery Specs
Casing: Carbon Composite Shell & Polymer Plastic
Weight: 21 lbs
Length: 6.6
Width: 5.2
Height: 6.8
Pulse Cranking Amps: 1380
Cranking Amps: 742
Cold Cranking Amps: 550
Amp Hour Rating: 31

They test higher than they are rated. Let me find the thread where someone took pictures of a ETX14 testing out to almost 400cca.

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/1246108-post10.html

This thread has posts that just lists the facts of the battery.
http://www.iwsti.com/forums/vendor-g...unt-combo.html

And FYI, I have no affiliation with the batteries in any way, I just hate seeing people throw away money on something. And in my oppinion it is a waste of money to buy something with a different name for 100% more money.

400 CCA doesn't seem like much, a lot of guys with race cars want a lighter battery but how good is that going to crank a 12-1+ motor?

Have you used one on an ls1 car? 11.5 pounds is awesome and that thing it tiny you can mount it any place.

Also how is the capacity with stereos or other things?

I wouldn't mind having one, I have a brand new optima, but am not sure it would work for me running a stereo and amp.
