1) What mph have folks gone in 32rd with SI at the track?
2) What mph is your tq locking up at in 3rd? 95mph?

To clarify..
1) What mph have people gone in third gear with stock converter? How about with a YPT4400. Also, what what RPM's do they cross the traps?
2) What mph does your torque converter lock up in third at WOT?

A little more info John... according to my calculation.. with a 26" tire and 4.10 gear, at these RPM's you go this mph:
5800 109
5900 111
6000 113
6100 115
6200 117
6300 119
Now that is if your converter is locked and there is ZERO transmission slippage. At WOT that is not very likely even if your TCC is locked up. There is still some slippage.
So say you don't lock the converter... and you have a stock verter. Figure 200 rpm's of slippage as just an estimate.. According to that, you can trap 114 if you rev to 6300. Now, what if you have .. lets say, a Yank PT4400... a slipping monster. Guestimate 600 RPM's of slippage at WOT in the upper rpm's (just a guess).. that means you can only take third gear to 107mph if you only rev to 6300.
Stock internals means stock rod bolts and stock valvetrain.. so you really shouldn't rev past 6300 for valve float and safety reasons..
So, can you finish the 1/4 wihtout going into OD in say a car that traps 114 with a 26" tire, a 4.10 gear, a YPT 4400 and only a 6300 RPM rev limiter.. No.. you can't. Not unless you lock up the converter AND the converter holds the power and locks successfully without slipping.
Slap on a 28" tire with a 4.10 gear and you can do the 1/4 in 3'rd gear up to about 116 with 600 rpm's of slippage.

I was going through the traps at about 6300 Saturday. YPT4400, 3.42s, 26" tire, 114-115 MPH.
I think you need to use a 28" tire or gear it down (3.42s or 3.73). Either that or you can upgrade you valve train and spin it to 6700.
