Default I ran my stock 2001 SS last night.

The car is a stock 2001 Camaro SS. I have owned the car for maybe 7 months now, and I have always been wanting to run it down at the track to see what the car was capable of putting out.

Finally, I was able to take it down to HRP in Baytown. After an hours drive to get there, I went through tech immidietly. Since the staging lanes were empty, I was able to put my car on the line. I was anxious to get the car clocked, so I didn't park it and wait or do any prep. Straight from the road to the track.

Well, I had trouble getting traction off the line. The wheels were getting horrible spin, and would keep spinning all through first gear. I got my first ticket at the window. 14.1 at 105 MPH with a 2.5 60'. not good. Way off from what I was expecting.
So I drove right back to the staging lanes, and in less then 2 minutes I was up. I ripped off another horrible wheelspin. (More controlled this time) but the results were the same. 14.0 at 105.

SO now Im pissed. Determined, a made yet another trip to the lanes, and I lined up on the tree. I held it at a steady 2K RPM, and concentrated on keeping it there. The tree turned green. I launched, the tires slightly spun then hooked, and I roared down the 1/4 mile. I picked up my ticket at the window, where it read 13.6 at 106 MPH with a 2.2 60'

Well, maybe it wasn't the best time for a stocker car. But as far as I was concerned, it was mission accomplished. Now I could actually back up what I had to say when I told my buddies that my car was good for a mid-13 1/4 when they think they are doing good to break 14's

Not only that, but that was the time the car ripped right after driving it for aout an hour. No rest, no ice bags under the hood, nothing. From the street to the strip. Im pretty sure if I were to go back, I could eek out another .2 from doing the little hot rodder tricks. But Im happy with what I ave now

In this heat that is not bad. With cool weather and some traction you will see a huge imrovement.

I know this does not make sense but my car runs BETTER when I hot lap it. Some of it may be because the last run is fresh in my mind and I make adjustments.I have had back to back runs shifting at the same rpms and leaving the same yield better times on the 2nd run.

BTW my car only ran 13.5@109 my first pass and it was in the heat. The best I could do stock was 13.1@109

My 2000 Z28 A4/2.73 with minor induction mods and a cutout ran a best of 13.44 @ 106 mph first and only time out. I hot lapped the car too and improved on every pass. Went from 13.76 to 13.64 to 13.56 to 13.47 to 13.44. Keep working on hooking up and reducing those 60' times.

Sorry about the slow reply. My car is a 2001 Stock M6. Stock T56 (non hurst equiped) stock lid, stock exquast system. Im really happy with the results, considering that the car had a half tank of gas and we didn't do any of the little hot rodder tricks like lowering the PSI or anything. And Im surprised how well the Michelin Pilot Sports held up after our few smokey and the bandit impersonations down the track. The rear fenders had a nice bit of rubber on them, but the back tires still had as much tread as the front tires. Who knows, Im just happy with the performance.

What night were you there? Friday?
I was spectating Fri drinking some cold ones in the stands.
In really good air I ran 13.06@106 only mod was a whisper lid. A guy I was hangin with that night ran a 12.8 with only a lid.
He was a manual and knew how to drive. I am an auto.
Those are good times for the heat. Find some remote area and pratice launching without spinning. If you have a pic of your car mail it to me. I might remember seeing it. hugh.carmichael@wsnelson.com There was almost noone there huh..lol Good for you but just watching was like a broken record.

Peace.

That 2.5 60ft is killing your ET, rule of thumb is a tenth to a tenth and 1/2 for every tenth that is dropped on the 60ft.

Those times are not bad at all for this heat. You could EASILY see 3 more MPH at HRP in nice 40-50 degree weather....
