10.750 @ 128! also have quick question....
Went to US 41 tonight and ran a new best the first pass...
1.539 60'
6.914 @ 101.06 1/8
10.750 @ 128 1/4
I did take the ft seat out for this run, but otherwise no weight reduction. The bottle pressure was at about 950 (this NX bottle heater really blows-it needs to be at about 1050 since thats where we had it on the dyno). Also, still on stock suspension except for BMR torque arm. The subframe connectors and cage must be doing a great job keeping the car stiff because on the third pass i did a 1.519 60'....too bad I was out of nitrous because it might have gotten me into the high 10.60's.
I still have some bigger nitrous jets to try.....I would like to see a 10.5 out of it before the season as the car sits with just a little more nitrous.
I cant figure out why I ran out of nitrous on the last pass. I was on a new full bottle. When I checked the bottle pressure right after I cracked it open it was at 1500 psi. The bottle wasnt even warm when it registered this pressure so I figured that the guy who filled it must have overfilled it. I cracked the bottle open to relieve some pressure (just let some leak out slowly). I got it to about 1050 psi (the bottle was still cool) and made my pass. The heater was not on. The car fell on its face after the 1/8 mile. When I came back to the pitts I checked the pressure and it was way low (like at 650 psi). I have no idea how to explain this so if you have any ideas please chime in.
Thanks a bunch,
Conrad

You let out 450 psi of a ten lb bottle. That was probably a good portion of the juice. If you have to let pressure out again like that....tip it upside down and crack the valve. It wont let as much N20 out per psi of pressure drop. You have to think of a full bottle as a liquid inside the bottle. By releiving the pressure with the bottle upright you were letting out "liquid nitrous". Had you tipped it upside down you would have let out mostly gases. Also allowing out mostly gases causes more of a cooling effect on the bottle...lowering the pressure quicker.
If you dont believe me...next time a bottle is over filled...hold the bottle...crack the valve and watch the dense white fog come out. Without closing it...tip it upside down and you will see the fog go away. At that point you are venting gaseous nitrous only.
Good runs BTW. Can we get some more info on your car? What rear and what gear. What nitrous kit and shot size...thanks!

Re: 10.750 @ 128! also have quick question....
thanks a bunch 383LQ4SS! I wish that I had thought of that before I cracked open the bottle....
My car has a moser 12 bolt with a 4.11 gear. I am running the NX MAF kit jetted for 150 but it really only puts down 110-125 on the dyno (at the pressure i was at last night-prb closer to 110 ). I guess this is a common thing with NX On the dyno we found that I could go with the next jet size combo to get the full 150.
I've been doing some research and there are a bunch of M6 heeads/cam nitrous cars that trap over 130 (there are a wide variety of ETs....but they are making good power). I assume that if I get my jetting right to make a little more power I will be able to trap 130 or so.
I really want to go 10.5 with this thing. I think that would be pretty respectable considering the minimal suspension work and almost no real weight reduction. I would also like to see a 1.4x 60'. I was close last night...

Thanks Jason99T/A and DriveATransAm!
BTW-All of my parts have come in for my 427 build! When winter break rolls around I will assemble the thing and throw it in the car with that new nozzle system. Hope to see some 9's!

Damn, that was you. I was looking for a car w/MD plates. I would have come over and introduced myself.
I was driving a blue Z28. Best pass was 11.60 @ 115.74 (1.56) w/traction problems and could launch as hard as I would have liked to. I normally dead hook there.
Congrats on the new best.

Ive never really run it off the bottle to be quite honest. I did get one pass a while back and went like 11.8 or something (it was not one of my better performances lol). It only puts down 390 hp on motor. The heads/cam package I have isnt all that great considering guys are getting like 70 more rwhp tham I have. Plus, its tuned for nitrous. The plugs and tune are set up for nitrous.....I could prb get about 400 rwhp out of it was tuned for all motor.
Its no fun running all motor anyway! LOL

BTW- I have to give credit to East Side for getting the tune right on the bottle.....these guys really know what they are doing!
XFiveLTR-I saw your car there and tried to find you but I was really busy trying to get ny nitrous set up right. I'm sure ill be back soon so ill let you know when im going

About your nitrous problem. You need to weigh your bottles. Get yourself a cheap digital bathroom scale. You can pick one up at walmart for like $20. A 10 lb full bottle weighs 25 lbs. A 100 shot will use about 1 lb on a pass. A 150 shot will use about 1.5 lbs. Weigh your bottles and see how much you use on a pass. For best performance you want to use a full bottle every time. But at least have 6-7 lbs in it. Good luck.

Thanks a bunch for the tips. Maybe I'll find a new place to fill my bottles. I have three and I only use a bottle twice before replacing it with a full one. Guess I need to get that scale asap....
Thanks again

Thanks a bunch man. How much power are you making on the bottle? You must be putting down some good numbers to get that trap speed! That's awsome!
How do you like those 4.56 gears on the track? I'd like to change but I'm going to a 427 soon and I think that 4.56's might be a little too much gear...

G2 LS1 - I think that I might get out there on saturday or friday night. Not quite sure yet. I usually trailer it to the track so look for the white dually and trailer......what kind of times you turn with that thing?
EVIL-thanks a bunch man. Yeah, i shift the thing pretty hard. Its not really fun if you aren't driving the hell out of it anyway....
I have a catek clutch and the T56 is holding up fine although this is my second trans....you will have to rebuild yours as well in the future if you race it a bunch. Ill prb be replacing syncros in this one sooner or later...its not that hard.
