Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
Thunders had to be a M6 since those numbers are not uncommon... it sucks that it takes a H/C A4 to dyno the same as most cam only M6's LMAO
Xfive: no dyno with the cam only setup... i'd guess 365 but thats just a guess. One of my friends had his 98TA there with vig3600 and the thunder 224cam and he pulled 373 i think which i thought was awesome for cam only in a A4! Im guessing i picked up 25-35hp from the heads which is the normal gain? well worth the 1400bucks
the car after getting tuned at the dyno just felt like a beast in its midrange! I told the guys I coulda put more air in the tire... hell coulda took out the air filter and broke 400 even LMAO. Im not worried about a big dyno number, just wanted to get the A/F straight
Kent, if i go to a different verter it would be the TCS 4200 i like there 99% efficiency!

probably wont be a tcs verter in your future unless you buy a used one.

Well it seems that the auto's do loose alot compared to the M6's. Just for the hell of it I overlayed the torque curves from the M6 Thunder (388 lbs) and your auto.
The chart is from 250lbs @3000 to 400lbs @7000.
That looks like about 20 to 25 lbs from 3500 to 5000.

Thats true, plus they are 2 different cams. All in all I would be pleased with the numbers, I just wonder if there is more hiding in there.

yea, with the verter locked you wont get that flash on the dyno to skew the tq numbers.
we probably shoulda made a unlocked pull.
i just like the converter locked cause it makes it easier to get a smooth a/f raito.

we coulda made more power if he had light wheels and a short belt. he was running chrome zr-1 rims.
not sure how much more we coulda found with it in the current state. maybe a different timing curve. we had just enough timing in there so it didnt tickle the knock sensor and the a/f was pretty nice.
i am not a edit guru by far, so im sure there are tricks that some of these other guys are using that i might not be familliar with.

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
thanks Mike
you plan on coming down also?? If so, i hope to see ya there
im not worried about woulda coulda shoulda's... yeah she coulda maybe of made 410+ but i just wanted to tune the car in. Evil said I would get 390 and I didnt even think i would pull that LOL...
when the first pull was 388 from Joe 0's blind tune I about crapped myself(no dyno pulls just atap logs)
Then good ol evil tweaked a few secrets out here and there and bam, 399.9 LMAO
i dont run a shortbelt at the track, so i didnt want to use one on the dyno.. i ran her as is on the dyno as I do track.. just had chrome wheels on instead of draglites

Congrats. Constructive comment:
Although it won't have any affect on the RPM range where you race at, I'd
double check the tuning around peak torque...you're like 30 ft-lbs less than me
with a very similar engine setup, and my tuning(my own) was lean on the dyno
...(see sig, and yes that is from a locked dyno)
On the other hand, your car is a lot quicker and faster than my 2.73 pig...

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
every dyno is different. we coulda went down the street and made 415 or even 385 so its hard to tell if that power is a true representation. the test is in the track time.
take moose for example, 430 rwhp running 11.06 @ 126.5. there are m6 cars out there with alot more power according to their dyno sheets that havent run as fast. but i know there are some that have.
not trying to get flamed, but the numbers at that dyno seemed a little low. there were 2 gtp stage 2 h/c cars there one made 393rwhp in a c5 and one made 406 in a z28. both had no dyno tricks done.
so if you take that into account, then the 399.9 seems like a good number.

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
Plum, do you have a dyno graph handy.. we have very similair mods so i would just like to compare
you may have more tq because of the insane tq mult from the ST4000!! Maybe the vig just doesnt make hardly any tq locked, but i know she's insane unlocked
I see you have a heavy car though... when i went the 11.5 i somehow magnaed to get my weight down to 3450(its not light, but better than 3600-3700 im at normally)
Evil, im not one to make a big deal about dyno numbers, but it did make me happy to see this lil A4 up there with the GTP H/C M6 cars with slightly bigger cams... I dunno why numbers were off, espically after one guy shoulda added a few ponies at peak
