Default 455 RWHP/409 RWTQ baseline pull........Thanks TEA

Readers digest version:

Went to the dyno for the helluva it, thinking maybe 425-430...

BAM: 455/409!!!

The first pull he let out at 5500 for some reason, it made 419. The other 2 pulls were made to 6800 and were within 2-3 HP of each other, the lower one being 452ish. It was still making power past 6800 rpm's!! This baseline run was with 26* max timing, 12.0:1ish A/F. Didn't get to measure knock or anything, didn't have time....

Pulls were made through a Ford 8.8 w/ 4:10's, Z06 clutch, T-56.

I have yet to dyno tune the motor. I'm thinking 460-465 rwhp with a good dyno tune. Right now I am running a baseline mail order tune from Jayson @ MTI. This motor also only has 800 miles on it. Could we possibly say 470 rwhp with tuning and breakin? Maybe...

For comparison, there were two cars that strapped down in front of me. Stock Z06 that made 360 rwhp. And a buddy with MTi stg 2 stuff that made 410 through a 12 bolt.

Not bad for a lil FMS cam, and TEA heads

PROPS:
TEA- Brian, Brent, and Brandon are all kick *** guys. Took care of me, and offer one of the best cylinder heads on the market for the money, no doubt about it.
FMS- Alan and I came up with this cam, and needless to say we did a good job. Thanks Alan...
MTI-Jayson was super patient with me with all my questions, he's got some of the best customer service i've ever seen...
And of course all the smaller stuff; Bauer TB, Thunder Grotts, etc.....

Thanks for reading, now i'm gonna go beat the **** outta this motor and loosen her up some. More power to come ladies & gents stay tuned.

Also forgot...

11.3:1 compression, Stg 1.5 heads

As far as I know, I am now the highest dyno'ing 346 Hydraulic car in Georgia. Most heads/cam cars make 405-435 here. I do not think 460-465 rwhp is impossible out of this setup with a tad more tweaking and some break in miles...

We'll see how she likes the track...

Thanks guys....

I left the damn graph at the shop, but from what I can remember. I am making 400 rwhp @ 4800 rpm's and pulls all the way up. 400 ft lbs of TQ at 4300 rpm's and pulling

Kinda funny since this cam is on a 114 LSA with ZERO advance. I would have never thought it would make that much power below 5K..

Dont get cought up in the high HP war looking for top numbers can leave you a little low in the low end torque dep.

Chris, I think i'll keep you in suspense before posting the cam specs. Or maybe I could just be greedy like everybody else and not post them at all

Stock rockers, 7.4 pushrods. Heads milled .020

I do not get "caught up" in peak #'s. I know better than anyone that peak #'s don't necessarily tell the whole story. Did you fail to notice I made a point to mention the car made 400 lbs @ 4300 rpms? That by far is "peak". Most heads/cam LS1's make ~380 at 4300. The car is also making 400 rwhp from 4K+.

Yeah i'll get the graph on here. It'll probably be after the holiday's though. I was so damn excited leaving the dyno shop I left the graph on the counter. They're gone for the weekend so i'll get the graph posted next week sometime.

For anybody who knows the **** I went through, this has been a LONG time comin for me. Bout time I got a smile on my face from this car

No I didn't fail to notice. My car makes ~395rwhp at 4300. That's why I really want to see the graph. Sounds killer area under curve for both horsepower and torque.

Nice job Josh! I know it has been a long time coming for you with this setup.

455rwhp is killer with the stock bottom end!

Hey brother, that comment wasn't directed towards you. DG posted something about being caught up with peak #'s. I was pointing out that was definately not the case...Sorry for the confusion...

Oh BTW, the cam is MUCH smaller than most of the popular cams like the TSP231 and the GSX2 & X3 cams. She idles like a BABY with stock idle speed and no idle tuning too

Thanks again guys, I just gave her an extra special bath for being a good lil girl today

LOL......To be honest with you, my cam is nothing special. It's something that Alan @ Futral and I came up with, but it's far from some miracle stick. I think a LOT of my power lies in the heads. These heads simply kick ***. However, Alan's cam do kick *** too. He uses different ramps than Comp, they work real well. My cam idles like a baby with stock idle speed. I would recommend going to Alan for a cam anytime. He knows how to make power...

Something else I forgot to mention. Dyno runs were done with no tricks. As in, NONE. Drove straight off the street and pulled in the shop for dyno. 17 inch nittos @ 22 psi, stock belt, etc....Hmmmmm, maybe a shortbelt, 16 inch wheels, and no air filter would put me @ 460 rwhp even without the tune

It feels damn good, and feels even better knowing that it isn't over at 455. I still have quite a few tweaks and tries to go...Wish I had a 10 bolt with 3:42's laying around

And yes, these are SAE #'s.

How could this be? Those #'s cant be right. It must be a magic trick or something. TEA heads dyno'ing well with a cam that is smaller than TR230 on the intake side? Just kidding.. I have no clue what the cam specs are. I just know that Josh is up and running and I am not.. Congrats Man!!! Things are finally going your way..
